An Answer. To the Editor of the Banner Times : To a question asked by a prominent citizen last night at the close of Col. Hitter's logical leHire, “How can a man believing that doctrine vote for either the democrat or republican party,” I felt as did the majority of the people, that a radical change in tbe administration of affairs was a necessity for the general good; so the only thing F could do with the hope of getting the thing aimed at was to vote the republican ticket. that the purpose was to form a society to perpetuate in historical form the interesting periods and epochs of Putnam county, from its earliest days, and to make the same
permanent in character.
A committee consisting of Dr. Ridpath. T. C. Grooms, T. C. Hammond, J. F. Darnall and Jesse W. Weik was appointed on permanent organization, to report an organic form for the society at the next meeting. A committee on oflicers was elected as follows: J. J. Smiley, L. P. Chapin, J. T. Denny, Albert Loekrtdge, .1. McD. Hays, James Bridges and Jerome Allen. I’hey will report at the next meeting. A committee was appointed to prepare invitations to be published in the city and county papers asking the older citizens and all parties interested in the matter to attend the next meeting, which will he

Well, Groveland is destined to come to the front. G. D. Greenwood and W. A. Muuduy have formed a partnership for the manufacture of musical instruments on a new plan, one of their own patent and process. They have one instrument about completed. The wise man said there was “nothing new under the sun” but Solomon never lived to see this instrument. Your correspondent had tlie privilege of viewing it Saturday evening. It then had but one string attached and upon that one string Mr. Munday treated us to several delightful tunes. It would he hard to describe the style and mechanism of this instrument. It is something of a cross between a dulcimer, Aoelian harp, tom tom hum drum and a window shutter. VV. A. Munday and wife attended church at New Winchester Sunday to hear Kev. Manasa Crews, of Kansas. Dogs got into Bob Christie’s sheep south of Groveland Saturday night,
day, Dec. 29, at one o’clock. The committee consists of T. C. Hammond, F. A. Arnold, C. L. Martin and Harry M. Smith. Their invitations will appear this week. As a ferler, the chair asked all those who were born in Putnam county to stand up. Eight stood. Then some one suggested those that were born in Kentucky to stand, and another eight arose. There

Its death blow has been received and there will be a decline in the “manly” art from now on. Professor Wilson, of West Virginia, has given expression to what he says is his “firm conviction” that the present should be an active session of congress for democracy’s sake. Our understanding is that the last was an active session for democracy’s sake, and look at the result! The democratic party must avoid activity as it would a deadly contagion.
