The parties to the number of fifty took their dinners and spent the afternoon with pleasure. Mrs. Grace Maxwell was a member of the party. The school board has secured the services of a teacher in penmanship. Miss Starr, who is employed in a like capacity in the Crawfordsville schools, will divide her time between the two cities, teaching penmanship in all the rooms. She w ill make a tour of the rooms each week in about the same way that the present music teacher makes iier visits. The salary will be thirty-five dollars per month. This arrangement has been made in conjunction with the Crawfordsville school board. Jesse Gaines, Henry Lutz and John Allen were before Mayor Birch this morning charged with intoxication. Lutz was let off and agreed to leave the city. Allen wanted a scrap and told Marshal Starr he could lick him, and stated that the marshal's cane saved him from many a good licking. The marshal quieted him with a blow on the eye and Allen’s fight departed. The farewell reception tendered Dr. S. B. Town and Dr. G. L.
