The I'utnam county democrats got up a remarkably short set of resolutions at their county convention last year. About ten lines covered all the resolves. From present indications and a year's past inactivity and mistakes their next platform will consist of the one word “Whereas.” When they try to get beyond that one word of introduction, the question of “where at" will strike them between the eyes and their resolutions will col 'apse.

runaway accident tliat nearly provid fatal to two women, and did damage otherwise that might have been much worse. Elmer Snyder and Lawrence McCray, better known as “Reddy,” went to Alhin <fc Biviu's barn and hired that firm's handsome new trap and a team of horses, intending to take some young ladies out driving. After leaving the barn they drove to the corner of Jackson and Liberty streets, where one of the front wheels came off the trap. The drop threw the young men out and frightened the horses, which immediate! v started at a lightning gait out Jackson street to the north. At the crossing of the railway tracks nsir the depot one

The annual teachers’ institute of Putnam eoanty began a week’s session in the assembly room of west college. The attendance for the opening day was unusually large, at least eighty per cent, of Putnaui county’s two hundred teachers being present. The morning was occupied by Professors Bassett and Baer, Die former giving an interesting talk on ‘-School Management,” and the latter delivered an instructive address on “How English Should be Taught in the Schools and Its Importance.’’ Many valuable points were obtained from these talks, and the forenoon was passed very profit-
ably.
After dinner Dr. Duvall spoke on “The Relation of Psychology to Literature” and “How to StudyPsychology.” Prof. Baer demonstrated fully how “Ethical Culture

Cleanlns Wall Paper.
The very easiest way to clean wall paper that has become dingy from dust and smoke is to arm oneself with a broom, over which is pinned some cotton cloth, which must lie changed frequently, as the flannel will soon be in such ii condition that tocoutinne its use would smear the walls with dust and Boot. Go over the ceiling first with long, even, firm strokes; then do the walls in the same way. Another way to clean the paper is with stale bread. Cut otf the crust from the long end of the loaf and mb the paper with it, cutting off a thin slice as soon as the crumbs become ■oiled. To remove a grease spot, lay coarse brown paper over it and pass a hot iron over the brown paper. Repent
