the city. He was quiet, industrious, a Christian in belief, and minded his business strictly. When in health he endeavored to earn an honest penny at all times, and befora the water works system was built had a regular trade among the business men and court house officials of bringing them fresh water from the public spring and other supply places. Of late years, however, his health failed and he was rarely able to be up town. With his cousin, Joe Mulhollnnd, he made his humble home on Fox Ridge, where he died. The two had formed many attachments, as they were raised by their grandparcnts. Had George lived until October 8 next, he would have been forty-nine years of age, his death occurring at 8:30 o’clock this morning of a general decline. The fun

Mrs. Sam Byrd led the F.pworth league last Sunday night. The meeting was interesting. John Van Wagner will lead next Sunday night. Mrs. Eliza McCray led the Christian Endeavor last Sunday night. One day last week Katie Butcher was rolling a cart out of the barn. She fell and broke one bone iu the left forearm and bent or cracked the other. She was able to be out Sunday night. Our people are watching the strike with unabated interest. Thousands of bushels of wheat will soon he readv to he thrown on the market at this place, conditions being favorable.
