TAKB PAINS to see that every man and woman coming into our store gets a proper tit in shoes. In some stores the salesmen are ladies and let you take away a shot* that tits indifferently. to save themselves the trouble of rimiaging through the shelves for the proper thing. It costs us nothing to take special troublt, and we tind the satisfaction it gives customers makes it well worth our while. A single ill-fitting pair of shoes is enough to start corns that will last a lifetime. Trading at a store when* you are sure to get nothing but “tits” means NO PAINS

lent shed, and a fire cracker got in its folds. Mr. Kiefer turned a garden hose on the fire and extinguished it before the department was needed. The boys put out hose just the same. The total loss is about ten cents. Mack Asher, a teamster for Burnaby, had a narrow escape from death while unloading logs at Barnaby’s mill cm Tuesday evening. He had his cant hook fastened in large log, and in pulling it from the wagon the hook stuck in the log and he was pinned to the ground by the cant hook, and the weight of one end of the log was on his stomach. Mr. Asher’s injuries, though painful, are not thought to be fatal. It was rumored in South Greencastle yesterday that night policeman Frank Riley had committed suicide on Tuesday evening hut a call at his father’s residence this morning proved the report to be false. It is true, however, that he shot at his image in a mirror while suffering from a loss of sleep and nervous trouble ever since he began night work. He will give up his position as merchant police and seek some more suitable employment. Says the Crawfordsville Journal: Thomas T. Moore, of Greencastle,
