The old form of receipt we have been using for weekly payments for the daily will give place this week to a more convenient and simple method of recording collections which will we trust meet with the approval of our subscribers. The plan is this: A curd. 3 by 6 inches in size, a facsimile of which is shown on this page, is used for each subscriber. Around the edge will be noticed dates of the successive Saturdays throughout the year. The cards will be strung on a ring which the collector carries with him while making collections. When a payment is made, the collector punches out a date lor each dime, the operation being done in the presence of the subscriber. When tiie collections arc reported at the office the collector must turn over the amount of money which the cancelled dates represent, ami the publisher punches with a different punch the cipher under the last date cancelled. This is called “checking,” and it shows upon what date the collection was turned in, while the number of spaces between the checker’s punches inch cates how much was paid at any time during the year. It is a very

A FILLMORE SENSATION.
Two FnmillfM Involved and Illooduhed Probably Will Follow—A Letter Found. Fillmore has in its time furnished its share of sensational matter for a small village, but it is on hands now with another sensation that is being rolled under the tongues of tiie east Putnam people pretty lively. As the rumors reach tit is city, there is trouble on hands over there, which has been brewing for some* time. It is said that a married woman wrote a letter intended for a physician, which was dropped on the street and was picked up by the latter's wife, the contents of which caused the families of the priucipals to believe an intimacy was going on between the two. The physician and ids family left Tuesday afternoon for a visit with her folks in Hendricks county, and it is said he went under a threat from the woman's husband to quit Fillmore within twenty-four hours or risk being killed. As reports from Fillmore state the affair is a serious one all around, and the high standing of the families makes it a deplorable one, as it is feared there there will be bloodshed before it subsides. If is rumored there will be a divorce or two on the strength of the matter. The town is full of rumors, ami the end is apparently not in sight. Piefirtiint Reception. On Tuesday evening of this week Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Hamilton held a reception at their residence on east Washington street from 8:30 to 11 p. in., in honor of their guests Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Rush, who were married on June 20 in Jerseyville, 111. Mrs. Rush is the youngest sis ter of Mr. Hamilton. Over fortyfive invitations were issued. A very delightful evening was spent socially, after which the invited guests repaired to the dining room for refreshments which were very happily served by the Misses Edna and Ulalia Hamilton. After the guests returned to the parlor Chinese napkins were served to hold the “souvenirs” of the occasion, which proved upon taking them from the large dish to be fire-crack-ers, very suggestive of the manner of the fourth of July. Since matches were also served with them patriotism swelled in the hearts of the guests to such an extent that a general assemblage to the front door was made and the report of fire crackers fired tiie enthusiasm until there was no souvenirs left. Mr. and Mrs. Rush expect to start at the earliest opportunity for Minneapolis. Minn., their future home. Well wishes and warm congratulations will follow them from their friends and new acquaintances in Greeneastle.
