Thursday of this week. May 17, the shooting match between Dr. Giftord, of this city, and Thompson, of Greeucastle, in competition with Loveull, of Carbon, and Eardley, of Perth, will take place at Carbon at 2 o’clock in the afternoon, for a purse of $200, or $100 a side.—

F.ight of the ladies of the ait school visited the Indianapolis art exhibit yesterday. The zouaves received many compliments on their drill last night before the inspector. Prof. Waldo is in Rochester, Ind., attending a meeting of the state science association. Miss Shank, after visiting the Christian association here, left this morning for Terre Haute. Miss Ada Kent was called to her home in Frankfort last evening by the death of her grandmother. (juite a number of the teachers and pupils of the music school were at the music festival yesterday, and w ill go again tonight. The lecture ol Hon. George R. Wendling last night on the “Man of Galilee” was well attended and highly complimented by all who heard it. He was entertained after the lecture by the Deke fraternity in their hall. The managing editor and editor in-chief of the DePauw Weekly are on the war path. It seems that botli want to run the paper while the constitution provides that the managing editor shall have control. There is some talk among the members ol the board of discharging the present editor-in-chief.

coaches, in a very badly battered condition, were taken through. Judging from the appearance of the cars, the wreck must have been a terrible looking sight. The Indianapolis Sentinel announces this morning the marriage yesterday at Greenwood of Miss Grace Johnson, of that place, and Mr. James B. Nelson, of this city, at the residence of Mrs. Julia Noble Johnson, Rev. H. A. Buchtel, of Indianapolis, pronouncing the cere mony. The paper adds that the contracting parties immediately left in a carriage for Indianapolis, thence to their future home in Greencastle.
