Repiblicans in Indiana will do well to heed the advice given by the Evansville Journal, which says: “Now, then, don’t sit down and say that victory stares us in the face. Buckle on your armor, face the enemy—and the most treacherous enemy on the earth, by the way— and keep an eye on them until the polls close next November. Keep your ammunition ready, too; do not wHste it, but fire when it will do the most good.” The Banner Times has just turned out from its job rooms some printing for the Russellville bank which we will place in competition with any hank work printing executed in any city. The Russellville bank believes in patronizing Putnam county print shops, and lias been convinced that this office can and does do as good work as any of the larger city offices. We will guarantee as good bank or other commercial printing to any business house in Greencastle as they can buy elsewhere or there will not be a cent charges.

Drilled Out of Town. For several days past a fellow by the name of Mantel, who is, by the way, a printer and also an actor, who claims to have electrified Brazil audiences in the past years of triumph on the hoards, has been selling a wonderful (?)glue about the citv. Of course it is the best glue ever boiled out of a horse hoof; would stick to anything tighter than a brother. It was especially recommended to political parties afllicted with bolters. A single bottle of the glue wou’d keep a party together, no matter what changes were made in the taiitf or silver policy. 11 is said this glue was used in keeping Brazil voters at home on the day of the gravel road election. It is evident that it has not been introduced into the rural districts prior to this time. However, Mantel lacked just one little tiling to make this glue a rip-snorting success— he had no city license. ’Pile police fastened their bread hooks on the Mantel and carried him beyond the wicked temptation of freedom. He was escorted to the city limits and the awful verdict read to him. His eyes started from their sockets, his limbs trembled, his face was blanched with terror—merciful heaven, he was sentenced to four days’ residence in Greencastle. We draw the veil over the sad scene.— Brazil Times, It is thought here that Mantel wots solicited by the local demo cratic organization to test the merits of his glue upon their party. The scene will, indeed, be sad. I'urdue Crop Ilpportn. May 15, warm, fair weather and sufficient rain continued to be of much benefit to all crops, which are now in most promising condition; wheat is jointing and heading now almost everywhere; Darley and rye are heading; pasturage is in splendid condition; potatoes are growing nicely, and tobacco lias been planted : although heavy ruins in some localities, making the ground too wet, stopped corn planting; the planting now is finished in most counties and nearly so in the rest; corn is coining up nicely and in many fields it has lieen plowed once, or even twice; fruit is falling off much; moles, cutworms, wireworms and potato bugs are numerous and have commenced to do damage; hail fell in many localities of the southern portion which did some injury; a light, harmless trost formed Saturday morning in many localities. Montgomery and Putnam counties.—The weather continued favorable to crops, but corn stopped planting corn, which is not all planted yet; heavy rain, hail and wind did some damage ou Thursday: all crops are in gne condition, including the fruit in Montgomery county. Ihe “I'lower Queen" will be repeated tonight at the Pre-byterian church at eight o’clock. Iti4-lt tt**in* trom Our Colored Friend*. Mrs. Henderson Baker is quite sick.
