A. B. Tolin has been nominated by the citizens of West Indianapolis for mayor. Mr. Tolin formerly lived here. There will be fifty-two people baptized tomorrow the result of the Pleasant Hill revival. Several will attend from this city, and the services will be conducted at Little Walnut creek in JYadison township. The solo at Locust Street Epworth league tomorrow evening will be given by Miss Webber. The subject for the meeting will he “What Can We Do for Missions?” The meeting will be led by N. J

There will he in Putnam lodge, No. 4i), I. O. O. F., on next Tuesday a presentation of decoration for the Noble Grand’s chair by the Daughters of Rebekah. Past Grand Master Hogate. of Danville, will make the presentation address. All Odd Fellows in good standing are invited. Twelve cars on the Big Four were ditched last night near Grant station, causing a blockade of about six hours. The cause is unknown, hut it is thought that the falling of a brake caused the trouble. Some of the trains passed over the Vandalia from Terre Haute to this citv. By seven o’clock this morning the track hud been cleared and trains were running regularly. A Pleanaiit Kvent. The Phi Mu fraternity entertained the Alpha Chis on Thursday evenevening. Miss Ada Kent entertained a few friends Thursday evening at Capt. (’haffee’s. Mr. Jennings, of Newcastle, is the guest of his daughter, Miss Maytne Jennings. The dress parade yesterday afternoon was witnessed by quite a crowd of students and citizens. The lawyers have been unusally quiet this week. Dean Coffin gave them two days of examinations. The announcement of the 540th recital of the school of music brought fortli applause at chapel yesterday. Hon. Roy West, class of ’91, is the guest of Delta Tau brothers and college friends. Forrest McNary, valedictorian of ’94, is back in school after a very severe attack of measles. Willie Peck, '94, is back after a long absence, during which time he was enjoying an attack of measles. The seniors have had their final examination in Latin and are.preparing for others that will soon
occur.
The seniors had a warm debate Tuesday. The subject was, “Have external objects color.” The negative won. The members of the class of ’94 that will speak this commencement have all been chosen ; the last three as selected by the teachers were Flora Hays, Mamie Siddons and Maurice Tribby. Our athletic club is advancing rapidly. After a victory last Sat urday they had their pictures taken and presented one ta the high school. They play the (’oatesville boys today and are making arrangements to play Clayton in the near
future.
Suit for Divorce. I,ate last evening C. C. and 8. C. Matson and Joint VV. Lnvne tiled on behalf of Dr. John R. Leatherman a suit for divorce from Lucy M. Leatherman. The complaint alleges they were married on Oet. 28, 1884, and lived together until last Mar li when plaintiff left defendant : that the defendant is of an unreasonably jealous disposition, without cause; that she scratched paint oft' the defendant's office door, tore off shade of doorlight of said room, punched boles in same that she might see in the room ; that she repeatedly and cruelly,without cause or reason, charged plaintiff with sexual intercourse with a number of female patients who are of excellent and unimpeachable character; that she w ould tly into a furious rage and would assault him with missiles; that she is of ungovernable temper; that she would during paroxisms of rage complain to peace officers to have them watch the plaintiff ; that she told persons he was insane and an habitual drunkard, know - ing same to he false; that .-he concealed his business papers and tore pages from his day book containing accounts; that the defendant was guilty of similar conduct at Manhattan when they lived there; that she injured ins business by her cruel actions. Plaintiff further says In* treated defendant kindly and had to leave her on account of her actions; that he left her well provided for; that she got a weekly rental from rooms in their residence of per week and that he allows her $10 per week in addition which he has regularly paid in advance on Tuesdays; that lie paid for the lot upon which house was built and ihat she paid nothing on same or towards the home; that the house is valued at $4000 and mortgaged for $2000; plaintiff' further states defendant has endeavored to turn their child against him, and he asks custody of the child.
