Thos. Bayne.

There ha* been some maple molasses made in the country, hut the run lias

been very short.

The saw- mill is not running for lack of logs; the roads too soft to haul much. Mr. Wm. Quinton started to San Francisco to the midwinter fair Tuesday. I notice an article in the 15. T. concerning the candidacy of Hon. George W. Ilautia for representative inthe leg-i-lature from this county. I think Putnam lias a good chance to elect a republican to that office in the person of Mr. Hanna and he should he nominated, as he is the man that can carry opposition votes, if any man ean, and 1 think it behooves the republicans to nominate him. Let us have an expression from all the townships in the county before our county convention meets on this matter. Also, I see Hon. O. F. Lane of Bainbridge spoken of for joint representative. I think he is the man, at least he or II. C. Lewis; either are good men. Many are proposing John Bridges for county commissioner in this district to run against Mr. 15. F. Thompson. Please let us hear through the Banner Times from Jackson, Floyd and Monroe townships on this subject. Franklin and Russell have spoken in favor of Mr. Bridges. Have either of the three townships a better candidate to propose, if so, name him? The republicans ought to nominate good men this year, the best men we ean find in our ranks, men who can command the votes, not only of the republicans, but of the other parties who have heretofore opposed us. I hear many express themselves, and I know what the feeling is of a goodly number. Trusting that these suggestions will not offend any one, hut will ultimately lead to the success of putting in nomination good men who ean be elected and who will if elected go to the legislature with the best interests of the greatest number of people at heart, and have nothing hut party interest in mind. Wishing that Putnam county may be redeemed from its long siege of misrule, and let the people have a look in the courthouse affairs of this county, is the wish of a voter and taxpayer who has been forty-

three years in Die county.
