Mrs. Mary Gall, living one mile west of Somerset, died last night very suddenly of heart disease, at the age of seventy years. The funeral occurs tomorrow morning at eleven o’clock at Brick Chapel. Putnam county has nominated a barber for coroner. Three heavy suits were decided in the circuit court today against the Muncie Nail Works, with Messrs. Durham, Darnall and Nelson as securities. James Davis, one of (Quincy’s foremost citizens, died on Feb. 8. Mr. Davis was born in Montgomery county, Ky., in 1815 and moved to Indiana in 1833, locating in Putnam county. He married Jane Harris in ls38, and in 1*39 joined the Baptist church. They moved to Quincy in 18(50. Deceased was a faithful husband, brother and friend. Mr. Davis was nearly 80 I years old. and leaves a host of relatives and friends to mourn his

James T. Allen, the good natured and hustling merchant from Bainbridge, is in trouble today. The ■ tore which he received from W. T. Scott in the late trade was yesterday closed by L. R. Root et al., of Ft. Wayne, who claim they have a mortgage for $200 on the stock. Mr. Allen hud arranged to satisfy this claim but states that McKee & Co., of Indianapolis, who have the mortgage on the shoe department mentioned last week, have asked for a receiver for their claim also, ‘which Mr. Alien had arranged previously to satisfy. John H. James lias been appointed receiver on behalf of the Ft. Wayne parties, and Mr. Allen is awaiting on liis lawyers for what legal redress lie has. The store is closed. Mr Allen is
