A T«*rrlbli* Death. William Woods, a young man living near Vivalia, died a terrible death yesterday afternoon at three o’clock. Last Thursday Mr. Wood in walking about his mother’s farm stepped on the stub of a sharp j briar which had been left above ground an inch or two and the same penetrated his shoe, entering his foot near the instep. The wound was considered a trivial one, and Wood, being a democrat, at tended the primarv on Friday and was in the city on Saturday. Blood poisoning set in that day, however, and in a short space ot time his body began to swell. Dr. J. R. Leatherman was called, but Wood was beyond human aid. He died yesterday afternoon at three o’clock in great agony, his body being swollen to a great size. Wood resided with his mother, a widowlady, on their farm near Vivalia, land was a hard-working young man of 21 years of age.

Ilis race has attracted considerable attention at Crawfordsville, considering Mr. Denman has been in this county so short a time to be given a chance at the best office at the hands of his party. Says the J .View: W. L. Denman, a former Crawfordsvillian, but now a resilient of Greencastle, was yesterday nominated for auditor of Putnam county on the demoeratie ticket. In Putnam the democratic nomination is as good as an election, and Mr. Denman’s many friends here will rejoice at his good political

The Journal has the following under the caption, “A Montgomery (’ounty Man in It William L.
