The Crawfordsville Jonnml pronounces a rumor groundless that Henry Alfrey bad made an assignment. Mr. Alfrey. was formerly in business here and is icputed to be worth over $100,000. Attorneys John W. Layne and Smith Matson have tiled in circuit court a suit for J. F. Ford vs. the Greencastle Brick, Stone and Lime company, asking that a receiver be appointed for the company. Ford’s claim is for $00 wages due. The sale of tickets for the foot ball game at Indianapolis opened yesterday with good results. It is estimated that 10,000 people will attend the game. As is to be seen elsewhere in tills issue, reserved seats may be purchased here. The Woman's Christian Temperance Union had a rousing meeting lust Thursday. Mrs. F. T. McWhirter, of the Meridian Union, Indianapolis, was present and made ope of her enthusiastic and most | encouraging talks. Several new names were added to the roll.
