The Eagle. FRIDAY OUT. 29. 1569. Local & Miscellaneous. New Advertisements. Balcbf Real Estate—llofstetldr. Jt-rT In consequence of an unavoidable accident, wc are unable to get this week’s edition of the Layle out on time. XSTThe winter session of the Decatur Public School commences on Monday. The following corps of teachers have been secured : David Meyers, W. 11. Baughman, 11. B. Knoff, Emma Hart, UrittaLong, and Ellen Bollman. P. & U. R. R.—A meeting was held at Union, a short time since, for the purpose of reviving the project of extending the Dayton <fc Union railroad to Portland. As the meeting was only of a preliminary character, nothing was done but the appointing of a committee of ways and means, who will report at some future meeting. Snow.—Friday night last the snow in this vicinity fell to the depth of five inches. For several days since we have had cold, blustering winter weather, so much so that the proverbial oldest inhabitant fails to recollect when we have had any thing of the kind to equal this snow and snap of cold, so early in the season. C. R & Ft. W. R. R —At a meet ing of the Directors of the Cin> cinnati, Richmond it Fort Wayne railroad, held at Winchester on the 11th inst., a resolution passed to submit the question of a special tax to the several townships along the line of the road, between Richmond and Ridgeville, for the pur pose of procuring funds to iron the road between the points nam cd. A special meeting of the • Board of Commissioners of Ran dolph county was held last Friday to consider the subject. A Kind Word —Wc do not of ten recoinmend this place or thatl place, decry one man’s business • and praise another, but it is a pleasure to us to recommend the great Dry Goods house of Fort Wayne, Root and Company. They are selling dry goods cheaper this fall than they have been since the war; and then their stock to select from would surprise you in regard to its magnitude and variety. In addition, the proprietors and their i employes make you feel it is a ■ pleasure to wait upon you. Wheth- j er you wish to purchase or not, they always take pleasure in showing you their goods. They say it is no trouble; it is the best way in the world to advertise their goods., and they are right. When you go to Fort Wayne, do not forget to give them a call. Fires. —On Friday morning the smoke house of Anthony Holthouse, oh Fourth street, took fire from an ash barrel. Ono side of the building and a portion of the roof were considerably damaged before the flames were subdued. On Saturday morning another alarm was sounded from Fourth street. The fire broke out in an out-kitchen - attached to George Smith’s residence. The premises were occupied hy Israel Remp, Jr. The out building was entirely de stroyed, and only by the most strenuous exertions was the main building saved. The residence of Albert Barthel situated across the alley was also badly scorched. Had it not been for the snow, both buildings would, doubtless, have been destroyed. The origin of the fire is unknown. The loss by the burning of the outbuilding is about two hundred dollars; not insured. This is a seasonable warning to our citizens to exercise the utmost vigilance in regard to fires. The records of insurance agents show that nine tenths of all fires are the result of carclesncss. See that your ashes are deposited in a safe place; see that your stove pipes arc securely fastened and properly connected, and with the exercise of ordinary caution, little danger need be apprehended from fires.

Det us Protect Ourselves. The physical structure of the strongest being is vulnerable everywhere. Our bodies are endowed by nature with a c.Ttaiu negative power, which protects them,'to some extent; from unwholesome influences; but this protection is imperfect, and cannot be safely relied on in unhealthy regions, or under circumstances of more than ordinury danger. Therefore, it is; wisdom; it is prudence; it is common sense to provide against such contingencies, by taking an antidote IN advance; in otiier words, by fortifying the system with HOSTETTER'S STOM- ' ACII BITTERS—the most complete pro- ; teepee against all the epidemic and en- ■ demic maladies that has ever been ad- I ministere<l in any country. Asa remedy ' for Dyspepsia, there is no medicine that will compare with it. Whoever suffers the pangs of indigestion, anywhere on the face of the earth where HOSTETTER S STOMACH BIT-. TERS can be procured, does so voluntarily: for, as surely as trr.’h exists, this ; invaluable tonic and alterative would restore iiis disordered atomach to a healthy condition. To the nervous it is also specially recommended, and in cases of confirmed constipation it also affords speedy and permanent relief. lit all i cases of fever and ague the BITTERS is I more potent thm any amount of quinine ■ while thembst dangerous cases of bilious fever yield to its wonderful properties. I Those who have tried the medicine will [ never use another, for nnv of the ailments which the HOSTETTER BITTERS . ptofess to subdue. To these who have ! not ma le the experiment we cordially I recommend an early application to the ! BITTERS whenever they arestrickcn by 1 disease of the digestive organs. Sale of Real Lstale. IrpHE KIDNEYS. THE KIDNEYS I X arc two in number, situated at the upper part of the Zoin, surrounded by fat, and consisting of three parts, viz: the Anterior, the Interior, and the Exterior. The anterior absorbs. Interior consists of tissues or veins, which serve asa deposit for the urine and convey it to the exterior. The exterior is a conductor also, terminating in a single tube, and called thti Ureter. The uruterS ire connected with the bladder. The bladder is composed of vtlrlous Coverings or tinsues, divided into parts, viz: the Upper, the Lower, the Nervous, and the Mucous. The upper expels, the lower retains. Many have the desire to urinate without the ability; others urinate without the ability to retain. This frequently occurs in children. To cure these afflictions we must bring into action the muscles, which are engaged in their various functions. If they are neglected Gravel or Dropsy may ensue. The reader must also be made aware, that however slight may be the attack, it is sura to affect the bodily health and mental powers' as our flesh-and blood are supported from these sources. Gout, or Rheumatism. —Pain occuring in the loins is indicative 'of the above diseases. They occur in persons disposed to acid stomach and chalky concretions. The Gravel.—The gravel ensues from neglect or improper treatment of the kidneys. These organs being weak, the water is not expelled from the bladder, but allowed to remain; it becomes feverish, and sediment forms. It is froth this deposit that the stone is formed, and gravel ensues. Dropsy is a collection-of water in sonic parts of the body, mid bears different names, according to the parts affected, viz: when generally diffused over the body, it is called Anasarea; when of the abdomen, Ascitis; when of the chest Hydrothorax. Treatment.—Helmbolde highly concentrated compound Extract Btichu is decidedly one of the best remedies for diseases of the bladder, kidneys, gravel, dropsical swellings, rheumatism, and gouty affections. Under this head we have arranged Dyruria, or difficulty and pain in passing water, scanty secretion or small and frequent discharges of water, Stranguary, or stopping of water; Aermaturia, or bloody urine; Gout and Rheumatism of the kidneys, without any change in the quantity, but increase of color or dark water. It was always highly recommended by the late Dr, Piiysick. in these affections. The medicine increases '.he .power of digestion, excites the absorbents into healthy exercise, by which the watery or calcareous, depositions, and all unnatural enlargements, as well as pain and inflam.ition, are reduced, aud it is taken by men. women, and children. Directions for use and diet accompany. Philadelphia, I’e., Feb. 25, '67. H. T. HelmbolU, Druggist: De lit S:r:— t have been a sufferer, for upward of twenty years, with gravel bladder, anti kidney affections, during which time I have used various medicinal preparations, and been under the treatment of the most eminent physicians experiencing but little relief. Having seen your preparations exteniirely advertised, 1 consulted with my family physician in regard to using your Extric* Buchu. fl did this because I had used all kinds of advertised remedies, and had found them worthless, and some quite injurious: in Inc*; I despaired of ever getting well, and detenirned to use no remedies hereafter unless I knew of the ingredients. It was this that promptci me to use votir remedy. As you advertised that it wvs composed of buchu, cubebs, and juniper berries; it occured to me and my physician as an excellent combination. end. with his advico; after an examination of the article; and consulting again with the druggist, 1 concluded to try it. I commenced its use about eight months ago, at which time I wss confined to my room. From the first bottle I was astonished and gratified at the beneficial effect; and after using it three weeks, was able to walk ont. 1 felt much like writing you a full statement of my c ise at that time, but 'thought my inprovement might only be temporary, and therefore concluded to defer awl see ( if it would effect a perfect cure, knowing , then it would ba of greater value to you, and more satisfactory to me.1 am now able toreport that a cure is effected after using the remedy for fivo ' months. 1 have not used any now for three ’ months, and feel as well in all respects I us 1 ever did. Yotii Buchu being devoid of tiny unpleasant taste and odor, a nice tonic and ■ invigorator of the system, I do not mean ■ to be without it whenever occasion may j riunire its use in such affections.
