Peterson to Miss Margaret Smith. Correction. —We intended to quote flax seed at 82 25 last week, instead of 81 25. This week the highest price paid is 82.10. Cars are Coming —The first construction train on the Cincintoati Richmond and Fort Wayne tailroad left Richmond, north, on the 12th of AugustPersonal —Mr. J. R. Randall, One of the original editors of Adams county, called on us this Wfeek. He is following the art preservative at Wabash, having a job office there.
Found.—We picked up an August number of the Little Corporal, on the sidewalk near the post office, last Thursday. The owner can have it by calling at the Eagle office.
Married.—At the M. E. Church, on Sunday evening, August 22nd, 1869, by Rev. C- H. Wilkinson, Mr. Norval Blackburn to Miss Sallie J. Stoops, all of Decatur, Indiana.
Hot.—Hot is hardly expressive enough to give the measure of heat we have experienced during the last week; but we shall leave it for others to modify at their pleasure. ,We are decidedly opposed to using any more exertion than necessary during the heated t#rm.
Stave, Bending, and Heading Factory.— Emanuel Wood is putting up a Stave, Heading, and Bending Factory, about four miles west of town. The engine and boiler are already on the ground, and in a short time he will be ready for business.
The Nursety.—The Nursery for August contains twenty five -charming pictures, with reading matter to match. The publishers announce some capital things on ■hand for the next number. Published by John L. Shorey, 13 Washington street, Boston, Mass. 81 50 a year, with extra inducements to clubs. Specimen copies fbrnished gratis.
Quarterly Meeting.—The Decatur charge and Monroeville circuit of the M. E. Church will hold their quarterly meeting in the •grove between Decatur and Monmouth, near Mr John Founer’s, commencing September 4th, at 10 ■o’clock a. m., and continuing over Sabbath. Rev. L. W. Manson, D. P. Hartman and others will be present. The meeting to be conducted as a basket meeting. The public generally are invited to attend.

Grand Pic Nic.—The Catholic Congregation of Decatur, Adams county, Indiana, will hold a Pic Nic for the benefit of the Church, on Wednesday, the Bth day of September, 1869, in the county grove, commencing about ten o’clock, a. m.. Arrangements have been made for good speakers to be in attendance. The Decatur Silver Band will be present and discourse patriotic and national airs. The proceeds of the Pic Nic will be applied In building a new chnrch and it is hoped the public will pat I

The Lady’s Friend for September. —A handsome steel engraving of Portia, the heroine of “The Merchant of Venice,” opens the September number of this charming periodical. This is followed bj’ the large and brilliant Fashion Plate, by an appropriate engraving of a Picnic, and by engravings of Childrens Fashions, Young Lady% Toilet, Mantelet, Headdresses, Bodice, Corsage, &c. Among the literary matter are “The Prize of Two Men’s Lives,” by Amanda M. Douglas; “Ingratitude,’’by Florence Percy; “Aunt Mabel’s Story,” by Aunt Alice; “Roland Yorke,” by Mrs. Henry Wood; “My Catechism and Its Consequences,” by Harrie Boyer; “Between Two,” by Elizabeth Prescott, &c.
