Internal Revenue for the counties of Weils and Ad ims that the Assessor of the former cointy return taxes assessed 52175,90, the Utter 92517,44 By these figures it will be seen that thia county will pay during the year, 871.54 more Internal Revenue this year than Welh. Democrats of Allen county who refused to be bound by the action of the regular Democratic Convention, met last week, and nominated a ticket oftheir own, and passed a resolution withdraw tng their patronage from the Fort Wayne Democrat. We have but little knowledge of the diffvieoces in the pariy in that county, but we predict lor them a total defeat at the polls. The bolters C'-r’ainlv will not receive the sympathy of die men of the party who rare a straw for the success of Democratic principles. P- rsonal grievances should, and always will be, subordinate to the principles of the pariy among true Democrats.
We have been shown a document J signed by the Mayors in office of the cities of the United States and ( ansda, certifying to the superior excellence of Dr. Ayer’s Compound Ex ract of Sarsaparilla and to the value of all l is retn edies as articles of great publ e utility Such evidence from such high sources bears us out triumpantly in the position we have long maintained with regard to Doct. Ayer's piejarations, or more particularly our advertisements of th-m. No publishers nerd be more opposed than we are to the promulgation o' quackery in any shape, but we knew when we began, that his remedies w--re above any suspicion of deception—that they were above the best it is possible to produce for the cure of disease, a'.d that thev have the confi fence o’ all communities where they are known. Not . alone because tbs Mayors of the who)" country believe them use'ul to their people, but because we know from experience that they are so to ours, do we believe we are rend"ring a substantial service to our readers in making their virtues known to them— [Courier, Princeton Ky Dowf With Hor-k Thieves.—The Great Western Horse lnsursr.ee and De tective Company insures horses from theft for a small sum end elso offers a standing reward of one fourth of the val ue of any animal which they have insured on its being recovered, and 81.00 for the arrest and conviction of ih* thief. An accurate description and measurement of each animal is taken, including all marks or brands, and in addition, all horses and mules are branded on the left fore foot with the letters “H I. Co” A copv of this description is furnished the owner and one retained by the company Poli cie» ol insurance are transferable in case vs sale, wlfch is absolutely necessary as ' the person would soon he arrested by the) company’s d-Uctives without such .rang , fer. And persons having business away from the neighborhood where’hey are known, should put thei r po.icies io their pockets as evidence of ownership in case they meet with any of the detectives.— In case an animal that has been insured, is stolen, the person owning the same should inform the "gent, also the State Office, so that prompt measures can be tak«n to arrest the thief and recover the horse. This is the only effectual remedy | to nut an end to horse stealing. A« a horse branded by the company is not salable without the policy, and in nine cases out of ten the thief turns animal so insured loose as soon as the brand is discovered. John King is agent for the company and to whom appliealions sho -Id be made for insurance. He may be found at Deoitnr en Saturday of each week.

At the conclusion of the exercises an old fashioned basket dinner was partaken of, after which the children arranged themselves in merry groups, and disposed of the remainder of the day in a free indulgence in the innocent pastimes of childhood. The Catholic congregation assembled jat their place o' worship at about the I same time, and marched to the grove north of town, where ample preparations hail been marie for the accommodation of all in she way of eatables.— An extensive booth havuig been erected, in which was a table capacious enough to accommodate several hundr. d and which was loaded with the good things of life, satisfied the inner man — In adiTTFOir dierc were various saloons well supplied with ice cream, lager, lemonade, ice water, fruits, con'ectionery, etc. Dinner disposed of J. R Bobo de livered an oration in English, followed b. Rev. Woeste of Hesse Cassel, in German, concluding with a song medley in German, by B Wemhoff, who was accompanied by Pios Nchultl.ies on the i guitar, which from the applause which j greeted it by the German* was the happy ! bit of the day. The proceeds of the picnic was inten | tied to assist the congregation in erecting I a new house of worship and about S3OO was realized during the day. The announcement that the Decaiur Band would be present was made in good taith. and with lhe exp-elation that their services could be obtained, but in this they were disappointed after making ev erv effort to do so. Taking it all around, the Fourth passed off pleasantly and quietly. There was not as a large crowd in town, as we have seen but all seined to enjoy themselves heartity. May our people ever ch-riah our N itional hirth-day, and celebtate it in a b coming manner.
