Confine Your Dogs.—-The Board cJ Ti usteea at their session on Saturday evening, passed an ordinance prohibiting dogs trom running at large, io consequence of tha hydrophobia excitement of last week Persons from tbs country visiting tow n should leave their caning stock at home, or they may come in contact with the marshal's club, or the one he is supposed to ought to have. Planting.—Our farmers commenced pjlan ing this week, and unless the rain interferes a large amount of corn will be planted during the week. Many farmers have hid their ground prepared for some lime, but hare heen waiting for warm weather to set in before planting. The ground is in good order, and if the weath • r was warm would be a favorable time to plant. A 1 ,rge crop will ba phnted.
Knotf’s Pictvub Gallkkt.—Persons vailing town, should not fail to call and see Kncff. His gallery is one of the established institutions of the pl ice, and he is by far the best artist that I.as located here from time to time. He sipdies Lis burners and applies hints If diligently, which is the secret of his success. Anything wanted in his lino will be promptly furnished, nt tl.e lowest rales possible to furnish good work.
Tits County Cemstrt—We would rail attention to the dilapidated state of the fence enclosing the camelry, and to the (set that ca tie and hogs are able to enter it at various places, and in several instances have thrown down monuments and headstone’, besides disfigurin ' and destroying the shrubbery and fl w,rr 'Let have been planted and cultivated by friends who cherish the memory of .hose who have gone before. The niclosurshould be repaired immediately, and sub staiitially. The old fence was built by the contributions of our citizens, and v.presume the funds necessary to keep i: in repair must necessarily be de ived r in the same source. Will not some of our citizens lake the matter in hand, make
an estifnate of tlie amount it will r« quire to make euitable repairs, sud circulate a subscrip’ion paper? There will be no double to raise the money if tLe matter is taken in band, nnd the money once raised there are plenty to perform the labor.
Mzth- dist Finances. —At ths I *t«quarterly meeting. Deca’ur btatioa raised ? 124 90, to support t'jeir pastor. The circuit raised 839,00. We believe the station ■and circuit are each to pay the pittance of four hundred dollars respective]) to their , •pastors, but at the rate of 829 per qn*r 'ter, the circuit wdl hardly raise the 8-I •mount. And what is plainer still, we do not believe they ever hare paid any tnin-i fster in full, that has traveled the circuit j Legally they are not bound to pay, but ■ tncrally they are, and those who rsfuse or neglect are solar dishonest, which is j the mildest term we esu n«e truthfully. | This may seem like harsh language, but if it will cause the people to reflect and do what is right in the matter, we will have accomplished our purpose.— Miniileri must bar? someHurtg trior® | than promise* for subsistence, and it is a disgrace to any church to neglect supporting their ministers, it matters not of what denomination. Il this hurts some of the brethren wh. am proverbial for their piety, let them pay up, and we wii! i drop the subj'ct, otherwise we may recur to it again The names and amount contributed by each member, would make an interesting article at the close of the year.

j Faithful Minister cr Health.—-Tn .examining the vessels nt the various i wharves we find among the curiousities 'of our commerce the brig Miranda, just I in from Truxillo with a cargo of Honduras Sarsaparilla from Dr J C. Ay it & Co, of Low< U. So particular are this firm as to the articles used in compounding their various remedies, (hat they Lave this drug, like some others they consume, gathered for them by r. skilful agent of their own in the tropical regt -ns of its growth. He informs us that there are many species of this plant, but two of which are really valuable in medicine; the qualities of these are also affected by the time rs gathering, mode of curing, etc , operations which in that region of unreliable Workmen imposes a heavy laI boi upon him. Ono of the inert verities of Sarsaparilla grows wild in our own forests, while several others, nearly ' worthies’, abound in Central and South I America. The intelligent agent assure 1 us that the virtues of this drug Lad never I been fully told and that the r.ason of tie ■ low esteem in which many hold it is j mainly due to the importation of such immense qiimtities of the worthless varieties. His accounts of his trip to lionI duras and his business excursions along (he Gulf of Dulce and the rivers of M >n- ; tagu* and Santiago and among the adjacent mountain were of intense interest. ; We can but commend and honor his en I ployment for the fsith'ulness and en“rgy : with which they execute their trust a* 'ministers to the public health, and we ■suspect that this course is al L ast one iof the rearons why their medicines are ■ held in such extraordinary fayor thronghi out the civiiiz -d world. — ' Xeio Tork City News.
