That no person or persons shall place ashes or maintain the same in such position as to endang'T his or any other buildings. 2d dnd it shall be deemed an offense for »n> person to maintain an unsafe flue, stove or fire place or anything connected therewith, so 1 as to end ingvr his or any other buildings by I fire. 3il. And fur; her it shall be the duty of the Marshal lo examine the place of deposit of ashes, the arrangement of flues, of stoves, and other places where fire might be, and if by him deemed dangerous they shall on notice thereof immediately repair the same. 4th. On refusal or neglect thereof they shall be deemed guilty of an offense and shall I>e fined in any such sums as the Bn'i d in ay determine and be collected agreeable sec. 10 in the ordinance passed June ?4th 1859. Ordinance of the Town ot An Ordiua.ice passed by the Board of Trustees of the Town of Decatur, for the regulation of the Fire Department, and the organization of a [look and Ladder Company. BE it ordained by he Board of Trn.stee.of the Town of Decatur, that the following Ordinances be adopted and in full force, from and after their publication. Sec. 1. Be it ordain<*d by the Board of Trustees of the Town of Der.at»-r; that , at the first ineet i’ g of the Board of Trustees, after the an nual Election in May in each year, there shall ; ba appointed by said Board one Fire Warden of the Fire Department, who shall serve as I such for one year, and until his successor is eketed and qualified. The said Fire Warden shall perform such duties as maybe requir i cd of him from time to time by law cr any ordinance of said Board.
I Sec. 2. It shall be the duty of said Fire Warj den soon after appointed, at the first annual meeting after the Election n May, 1866, to or : gamze, subject to the approval of said Board i of Trustee, one Hook and Ladder Campany. j i to consist of thirty men, reputable citizens of said Town, said Company when organiz 1.! • shall adopt proper rules and by laws for their ■ ■ government, sulject to the approval of the Boid of Trustees of said Town; and said Com pany shall at all times be subject to the. orders of the said Fire Warden whose appointment is provided for in this act. Sec 3. Sec. 7. Sec. 11. All ordinances coming in conflict with the provisions of these ordinances are hereby repealed. And be it further ordered by the Board of 1 Trustees, that every owner of Dwellings, Mills, Mercantile Houses Shops and Factories, be i required to furnish a ladder or ladders swffi , cient in length to reach from the ground to the comb of each one of their buildings, which said ladders shall be deemed as part of the I Heal Es f ate to which said building belong. And it is further ordained, that the Car riage for the Hooks and Ladders be twenty i five feet long, that there be eight Ladders; four with Hooks and four without Hooks, and that there be eight Hooks, one to be thirty five feet long and the bailance to be at various lengths; also four Barriers, twenty-five leath er buckets, an i two axes.
