Scrofula, or King’s Eyil, ; is a constitutional disease, a corruption «f the blood, by which this fluid becomes vitiated, weak, and poor. Being in the circulation, it pervades the whole body, and may burst cut in disease on any part of it. No organ is free from its attacks, nor is there one which it may not destroy. The seroluious taint is variously caused by mercurial duca.se, low living, disordered or unhealthy food, impure air, tilth and filthy habits, the depressing vices, and, above all, by the venereal infection. Whatever be its oiigin, it is hereditary in the constitution, descending “ from parents to children unto the third and fourth generation;” indeed, it seems to be the rod of Him who says, •• I will visit the iniquities of the fathers upon th.ir children.” Its (fleets commence by deposition from the blood of corrupt or ulceious matter, which, in • the lungs liver, and internal organs, is termed . tubercles; in the glands swelling'-; ami on j the surface, eruptions or sores. I'his foul cor- ; lupiion, which genders in the Mood, depresses i the energies of life, so that scrofulous constitutions not only suli* r from sciofulous com- ; plaints, but they have fur le>s power to with- j Rtand the attacks of other dhea.su.>; con-e- 1 qtt atly va-t numb'rs puii>h by di-orders' which, although not sciofulous in their nature, j are still rend red fatal by this taint in the : system. Most of the consumption which de- ‘ ci mates the human family has its origin directly 1 in this scrofulous contamination ; and many : destructive diseases of th', liver, kidneys, brain, j and, indeed, of all the organs, arise twin or ’ are aggravated by the same cause. One quarter of all our punpie are scrofulous ; I their persons are invaded by this lurking in- I fcctioii, and their health is undermined by it. I To cleanse it from the system wo must renovate j the blood by an al’ rativo medicine, and in- ; vigora: ■ it by healthy food and exercise, I bucli a medicine we supply in AYER’S Comp-Mind Extract of Sarsaparilla, the mo>t effectual remedy a* hich the medical • skill of <»ur times can device for this every- , where prevailing and fatal malady. It is com- . Lined from the most, active remedial* that have ■ b i --n discove red for the expurgation of this foul ; disorder from the blood, and the rescue of the system from its destructive consequences, i Hunt? it should be employed for the cure of ; not only Scrofula, but also those other affee- ■ tion > v. 1.; ii ari-e from r, Midi as I.ruitivk and Skin Diseases. Ik* popular belief in “ intpurit // of the blood” is founded in truth, for scrofula is ad< genera’itm of the blood. The ! particular purpose and virtue of this Sarsaparilla is to purify and regenerate Ibis vital fluid, without which sound health is impossible in contaminated constitutions. ATER’S Ague Cure, FOR THE SPEEDY CURB OF Intermittent Fever, or Fever and Ague, Remittent Fever. Chill Fever, Dumb Ague, Periodical Ikadaehe, or Bilious Headache, Bilious Fevers, indeed for the whole vlnss of alscnves originating in biliary (ki-nugeitient, caused by tile Malaria of Miasmatic Countries. We are enabled here to offer the community a remedy which, while it cures the above complaints with certainty, is still perfectly harmless in any quantify. Such a remedy is invaluable in distru ts where these afflicting disorders prev.il. '1 his •‘Cure” expels the miasmatic paLon of Fever and Ague from «ys:te:r, a: .'I ji\ .n.> ii.e de- i vela pinout of ih? di >< < se, i; taiien o.i the (ir»t approach of its premonitory symptoms, ft is not only the best remedy ever yet dLt xered for this class of complaints, but also the cncr.pot. Th? large quantity we supply for a dollar ' lines it within the reach of every body ; and in bilious districts, where Fever and Ague prevails, every body should have it and use it freely both for cure and protection. A irrrat superiority of this remedy over any other ever discovered for the speedy and certain cure of Intermittent* is that it cantains no Quinine or mineral, cunse«]'.en’’.y it produces no quinism or other injurious effects v. haievir upon the constitution. 1 hose cured ’>y it arc left as healthy as if th: y had never hud the disc;: >c. Fever and Ague is not alone the consoqncr.ee of the miasmatic poison. A giuat variety of disorders arise from its iiritation, among which are Feuralqrt, TUhwi dixm, Guut, Il< alarhe, Blind* first, i ot>‘h n Z i. i> ache, Catarrh, Asthma, Palr pitlltioil, Painful .\fl\ tio't (>f thf! '1 his *• C ure ’’ expels the poison from the blood, and consequently cures them all alike. It is an invaluable protection Jo immigrants and persons travelling or temporarily residing in the ni tlnriousdistiicts. If taken occasionally or daily while exposed to the infection, tiiat will be excreted from the system, and cannot accumulate in sufficient quantity to ripen into disease. Hence it is even more valuable for protection than cure, and few will ever suffer from Intermittents if they avail themselves of the protection this remedy affords. Prepared, ty Dr. J. C.
