Page Blackburn, the druggist, is rusticating at Rome City this week. The town council at a special meeting Thursday evening, passed an ordinance compelling all auctioneers, or “fire sale venders” to pay a license of $5 a day. The ordinance is all right and the proper thing for the protection of our home business men. GREATSUCCESS. The opening of the Assignee Sale of clothing last Saturday morn ing will go on record in this county as the greatest clothing sale which was ever attempted in this county. From the time the doors were opened the people commenced coming, aud during the day it liecame almost a perfect jam, making it almost impossible to wait on them all.
