NOTICE TO CONSI'XKBS OF W ITCH. I find that it in necessary to call your attention to a few of the rules governing the use of water: 1. Hvd rants, taps, hose, water clcaets, urinals, baths, or other fixtures will not l>e permitted to be kept running when not in u»e except by iqiecial contract. 2. Water t.kera will not be allowed to nupply others except by special permit from the superindent; if found doing so without permit, the supply will bestopped and the water rent forfeited. 3. Fountains and private hose shall not he used in time of fire except the use of h»se tor use of protection from fire; all |iersons using water are require! to immediately shut off the water upon an alarm of fire except in the alsive case. 4. Sprinkling is restricted to the following reules: From 6to 8 o'clock a. tn., and 5 to 8 o’lock p. m., unless by special contract. In sprinkling streets and sidewalks, each watet taker shall confine himself to the front of the premises and one. ha.f the width of the street in front thereof unless a special contract is made to use more water. Hose larger tnan three-fourth of an inch will not be permitted for such purposes, except by special contract Sprinkling without a nozzle or an opening greater than one-fourth of an inch is strict )y forbidden. All appliances for the use of water must l*e in perfect order so that • here is no wasting or unnecessary use of water. The unnecessary use or wasting of I water either in sprinkling or in any other i manner is strictly forbidden. 5. No person is allowed to use water other than that for which he has taken out a permit. If you have taken out your permit for domestic use, you can use it for n .thing else. If for domestic, lawn and street, use it for nothing else. If yourpermit calls for stable use, vou have a right i‘ > wash your carriage or buggy. If it does nut, you have no right to use it for any stable use whatever. 6. The infraction of the above rules will subject the offender to a fine of not less than one and not more than fifty dollars, the forfeiture of water rents paid and the supply turned off. 7. I find several consumers have taken out permits for certain purposes ami persist in using the water for additional purposes. If you desire to Use the watc. at any time other than that for which you have contracted, notify the superintendent and he will give you the [lermission; change your permit ami place you on the tax duplicate a- cordiugiy. Owing to the number of consumers now using water, the rules must be strictly adhered to or your supply will be turned oft’. If any other information is desired concerning the rules and regulations governing the water plant, apply at once to Dr. J. S. Coverdale, chairman of the water committee, or to the undersigned superintendent. All water rents shall be paid semi-annually in advance on June J and December 1 of each year. I trust that all consumers and prosfiec* tive consumers together with each individual citizen will inform him or herself as to the rules governing the consumption of waler as well and even more particularly as to the rules governing the care and maintenance of the water plant, for such is the complete distribution of hydrants that when all are in first class working order, each individual’s home is largely securrea against the ravages of fire. But on the other hand, should some one thoughtlessly or otherwise destroy, molest or injure some of the vital parts of the water system, our homes may at any moment be subjected to the fire fiend resulting in loss, want and misery. And further 1 trust that all will govern themseles accordingly. John W. Tyndall, Superintendent Water Works.
