ADDITIONAL LOCALS. Rattlesnake melons at Martin's. C. E. Doty was a Sunday visitor at Cincinnati. Attorney Butcher, of Geneva, was in the city Monday. Miss Rae Malotte is visiting Mrs. H. O. Stephenson, at Uniondale. Dan Sprang visited with his mother at Williamsport yesterday. Esq. Bryan, of Jefferson town ship, was in the city last Thursday. J. D. Hale was attending to business at Toledo the first of the week. A bran new stock of furniture, everything complete, at Auten \ Gay’s. Raised ’em out o’ Sight. The board of review in this county made their average appraise ment returns on land, without iniprovements. at 116.91. The state board of tax equalizers got hold of it and made an advance of twenty per cent, on lands and thirty per '* n t. on lots and improvements in ibis city of Decatur. The state commissioners say that had the local boards of review followed the instructions sent out in the circu tars tew changes would have been necessary. In many counties the board made ridiculously low valu ; i? 08 and of the board ’.mimate that in many instances 'alnations were reached without regard toequiety. Thework of the board was largely based on the land appraisement of 1891. Vance Hotsenpiller was sentenced to-day (Thursday) to three years in the northern prison. The charge under which the sentence was given, was that of forgery. Dan Straubh has another handle on his kite string of lawlessness. A deputy United States marshal has taken him to Indianapolis to answer to a charge of opening a letter, which was the propertj ot Mary Jacobs, $5.00 excursion to Northern Michigan via G.
