Although lea. s were ,-ilayed in the message received l.ronday from I friends in Memphis. Tenn., that the Coverdales, near Marlon, Ark., were safe from the hood, the message received this morning by Mrs. Coverdaie direct from her '.ms' and. Dr. J. S. (’> verdale, who has been spending the winter on his plantation near that place, established their safety beyond a doubt. The message read: "Could not send word sooner: wires all down; plenty of water, but in no danger Ml well: letter on way Do not come until notified." The last was n answer to word sent some time ago by Mrs. Coverdale before the floods, that she expected to go there for a visit with her husband and son and family, but since the floods she had given pp all thoughts of going, at least until after the present conditions had given way to better. Mr. Coverdales land is located between the St. Fran cis and Mississippi rivers, in both of which the levees broke. o — - — , ■■ CHRONISTER BABE. A fine ten-pound baby girl was born this morning to Mr. and Mrs. Will Chronister of the south part of the city. <? Rev. and Mrs. B. Earl Parekr and family arrived today over the Clover i Leaf from Hartford City. They are guests of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Hale, and will leave later for their new home at Richmond, where Rev. Parker was assigned as pastor at the recent session of the North Indiana conference. Their household goods have already been sent there. They were given a great farewll reception Tuesday evening by their congregation at Ha’rtford City, where they spent several years, and where they are held in the highest regard.
