Mr. Fitch of Fort Wayne was present with Mr. Gallogly and spoke for a short time explaining it. and making it more clear. Charles Helm, agent for the Casualty Company of America, was also present and stated that he would he willing to give any information in this line, which was listened to. The question of more night policemen was brought up, some of the people asking that they have more protection, as when an officer is called, and a second to follow shortly afterward, they would be somewhere else, and would be unable to secure his services when needed. The night police state that things have been very quiet here of late and that they are ableto care for the few calls of disturbance when sent for. The best of protection is not too good, and should the city see fit that more men be placed on the force, steps it. this line wit! he promptly attended to. The following bills were then allowed: Mrs. William Mersman stated that she believed they were entitled to some compensation in the city driving over their private grounds to the rear of their yard on North Second street, and leading to the pumping station belonging to the city on the river banks.
