We. the undereigned, each and all of hotn are adult resident free-holders .nd voters of Washington township, In tdains county, Indiana, and the city of Decatur, situated therein, respectfully netltlon your honorable body and ask ha , you construct and complete a irP e macadamized stone road, in said ■ownship, over and ui>on the public highway situated on the following route, to*lt: Commencing at the southeast cor o f the northwest quarter of section t4» township twenty-eight (28) north range fourteen (14) east in Ad •ms county, Indiana, where sth street in said city intersects with the Lachot macadam road, thence south over and upon sth street in said city in a southerly direction, crossing Marshall utreet, Monroe street, Madison street, ini l Jefferson street, in said city, terminating at the southeast corner of inlot one hundred and seventy-seven (177) in the original plat of the town mow city) of Decatur, Indiana, at the intersection of said sth street with Adams street, in said city. Vour petitioners aver and say that the improvement prayed for is less than three miles in length and connects at the commencement thereof with the Lachot Macadam Road and at the end or terminus connects with the Decatur and Monroe Macadam Hoad Extension No. 5. Your petitioners further aver and say that the street and highway hero in sought to be improved is a public highway already established and in use and is one of the public streets and highways of said city aforesaid. Your petitioners ask that said street and highway above described be drained and graded and that broken stone be placed upon the grade, and that upon such broken stone these be placed stone screenings. Your petitioners further ask that said highway above described be improved to the width to which it is nowestablished. that being forty feet, and that said highway and street above described be graded to a width of 21 ieet and that broken stone be placed thereon to a width of 15 feet and to a depth of 8 inches at the sides thereof and to a depth of ten inches in the ■enter thereof and that crushed stone screenings be placed thereon to a depth of 4 inches upon such broken stone, that said improvement be made a single track and that the name of the same be The Schaffer Macadam Road.
That to pay for said Improvement 'as ask that bonds he issued by the County of Adams, in the State of Indiana, payable in twenty semi-annual installments or series, and for the payment of which we ask that a tax be levied upon the taxable property ol said Washington township and jnid City of Decatur, situated therein in a sufficient amount to pay the interest and principal of said bonds as they become due. That said improvement be made and constructed, and that said bonds be issued. and said tax be levied upon the taxable property of said' township in accordance with the Acts of the Legislature of the State of Indiana passed in the year 1905, beginning on page 550. and as amended in the Acts of the Legislature of the State of Indiana for the year 1907, and as amehded i'i the Acts of 1909, now in force providing for the extension of Free Gravel or Macadam Roads and all other and all amendments therto. We further as kthe "Board to take all of the necessary steps required bylav,- to have said improvement constructed without submitting the question of building the same to an election of the voters of said Washington township, and that the Board construct the same under the laws of the State of Indiana providing for the extension of Free Gravel or Macadam Hoads by township taxation. Your petitioners further say that the improvement prayed for is less than three miies in length, connects at both ends with a free macadam road and that a United States Rural Mail Route passes over said highway. Your petitioners further say that the highway thus sought to be improved is a public highway already established and in use and is one of the public highways on the boundary line between Monroe and Wabash townshins aforesaid. That said improvement be made and constructed and that said bonds be Issued and said tax levied upon the taxable property of said townships in accordance with the Acts of the Legislature of the State of Indiana, passed in the year 1907. beginning on nage 203 and all other acts mentioned therein which are now in force providing for the extension of free gravel or Macadam Roads, and any other and all amendments thereto We further ask the Board to take all of the necessary steps required Inlaw to have said improvement constructed as petitioned for herein, and that the same be constructed withc-H submitting the question of building the same to an election of the voters oi said Monroe and Wabash townships, and that the Board construct the same under the laws of the State of Indiana now in force providing tor the extension of free gravel or macadam roads by township taxation. We, the undersigned, each and all of whom are adult resident free-holders and voters of Washington township, in Adams county, Indiana, and the city of Desatur, situated in said township, respectfully petition your honorable body and ask that you construct and complete a free macadamized stone roaci, in said township, over and upon the public highway situated on the following route, to-wit: Commencing at the northeast corner of inlot 176 in Joseph Crabb’s western addition to the town mow city) of Decatur, Adams County, Indiana, running thence south over and upon the public highway known as Bth street in said city of Decatur, Indiana, for a distance of about 800 feet, to the southeast corner of inlot 168, in said addition, running thence west along, over and upon Monroe street in said city of Decatur, and thence west over and upon the puMic highway in Washington township, in AdOOt; county, Indiana, for a distance of about 3.900 feet to the east e»d of the Decatur and Bluffton Free Macadamized stone road and there to terminate, at a point which ip about 3.900 feet west of said southeast corner of said Inlot 168 aforesaid. Your petitioners further ask that said highway above described be improved to the width to which it is now established, that being about 40 feet, and that said highway above described be graded to a width of 30 feet and that broken stone be placed thereon to a width of 24 feet, and to a depth of 7 inches at tlie sides thereof and to a depth of 10 inches in the center thereof for the first 800 feet of said improvement: that the balance ot said improvement be gr..ded to a width of 30 feet and that broken stone be plated thereon to a width of 30 feet and 1°
a depth of 7 inches at the sides thereof and to a depth of 12 inuhes in the center thereof and that ertwhed stone screenings be placed ther«yjn upon the whole of said improvement to a deffh of 4 inches upon such broken stone, that said Approvement be made a single track and that the name of the same be "The Lenhart Macadam Road," Your petitioners recommend that the old material now upon said proposed improvement be used in the construction of the Improvement asked for herein. Your petitioners further recommend that the engineer and viewers upon said improvement determine and fix the width of the proposed improvement and the kind and character ot the material to be used in constructing the proposed improvement, from tin commencement to 13th street, il any. in addition to the crushed stone and screenings aforesaid, so as to make a practicable, and durable improvement, having regard for amount and kind of public travel upon said highway. That from 13th to Monroe street that the Improvement be made of crushed stone and screenings only. That to pay for said improvement we ask that bonds be issued by the County of Adams, in the State of Indiana, payable in twenty semi-annual installments or series, and lor the payment of which we ask that a tax be levied upon the taxable property ot said Washington township and said City of Decatur, situated therein in a sufficient amount to pay the Interest and principal of said bonds as they become due. PETITION FOR MACADAM ROAD. State of Indiana, County of Adams, ss: Before the Board of Commissioners, October Term, 1911. We, the undersigned, each and al) of whom are adult resident free-holders and voters of Blue Creek township, Adams county, Indiana, respectfully petition your honorable body and ask that you construct and complete a free macadamized stone road, in said township, over and upon the public highway situated on the following route, to-wit: Commencing at a point a’anu fill rods west of the southeast corner of the southwest quarter of section eight <8) township twenty-six (2€) north range fifteen (15) east, running thence west over and upon the public highway on the section line dividing the west part of sections seventeen (17i and eight (8), and dividing sections eighteen (18) and seven <7). township and range aforesaid, and terminating at the southwest corner of said section seven <7l. township and range aforesaid; the same terminaitng on the township line between Blue Creek and Monroe townships. Your petitioners aver and say that the improvement prayed for is less than three miles in length and connects at both ends with a free macadam road in said township and that, a United States Rural Mail Route passed over the. highway herein sought to be improved. Your petitioners further aver and say that the highway herein sought to be improved is a public highway already established and in use and is one of the public highways of said Blue Creek township. Your petitioners ask your honorable body that said highway above described be drained and graded and that broken stone be placed upon the grade and that upon such broken stone there be placed stone screenings. Your petitioners further ask that said highway above described be improved to the width of 40 feet, and that, the said highway above described be graded to the width of 24 feet, and that broken stone be placed thereon to the width of iff feet, and to the|
depth of 8 incues at the sides thereof, and to the depth of 10 inches in the center thereof, and that crushed stone screenings be placed thereon to the depth of 4 inches upon such broken stone, that said Itnpiovement be made a double track, and that the name of the same be “The R.
