Auditor. — o ' PETITION FOR STONE ROAD. • State of Indiana, County of Admas, s«: Before the Board of Commissioners 1 of the county of Adams, November Term, 1909. 1 We, the undersigned, each and all 1 of whom are resident freeholders and voters of Washington Township,. and ' the City of Decatur, situated therein in Adams County, Indiana, respectful1 ly petition your honorable body and ask that you construct and complete 1 a free macadamized stone -road in said Township over and upon the public highway situated on the following route, to-wit: Commencing at the northeast corner of the southeast quarter of section eight (8), township twenty-six (26)**fiorth range fourteen (14) east in Adams County, Indiana, thence north on the public highway dividing the north half of said section eight (8) aforesaid and the north half of section nine (9) township and range aforesaid, and the south half of sections four (4) and five-(5) township and range aforesaid, and terminating at the Decatur and Bluffton Macadam Road at a point about 20 rods north of the northeast corner of the southeast quarter of said section five (5) aforesaid. Your petitioners aver and say that the improvement prayed for is less than three miles in length connects at both ends with a free macadam road in said township and that a United States rural mail route passes over a part of the highway sought herein to be improved. Your petitioners further aver and say that the highway herein sought to be improved is a public highwav already established and in use and is one of the public highways of said Washington township and that this improvement is to be a continuation | of, and—an extension to the Decatur and Bluffton Macadam Road. Your petitioners ask your honorable body that said highway above described be drained and graded, and that broken stone be -Inaced upon the gra&e and upon such broken stone there be p’aced stone screenings. and that this improvement be made exclusive of crushed stone*anu screenings. v<jpr netitioners further »sk that said highwav above described be improved to the width to which it is now established and that said highway above described be graded to a; width of twenty-four (24) feet, and ' that broken stone be placed thereon to a width of ten (10) feet, and to a i depth of eight (8) inches at the sides thereof and to a depth of ten (10) inches in the center thereof and that crushed stone screenings be placed thereon to a depth of four (4) inches upon such broken stone, that said improvement be made a double track and that the name of the same be the John Hessler Macadam Road. That to pay for said Improvement we ask that bonds be issued by the County of Adams, in the State of Indiana. payable in twenty semi-annual installments or series, and for the payment of which we ask that a tax be levied upon the taxable property of Mid Washington Township and the City of Decatur, situated therein, in a sufficient amount to pay the interest and principal of said bonds as they become due. We, the undersigned, each and all of whom are resident freholders and voters-of Washington Township, and the 'City of Decatur, situated therein in Adams . county, Indiana,. respectfully petition your honorable body and ask that you construct and complete a fr® macadamized stone road in said Township over and upon the public highway situated on the following route tq-witu . Commencing about twenty- (20) rods north of the northeast corner of the southeast quarter of section five (5), Township twenty-seven (27) north range fourteen (14) east, in Adams County, Indiana, running thence in a northeasterly direction on the highway dividing the north half of sections four (4) and five (5) Township and range aforesaid, -to where said highway angles from said section line, thence following the and terminating about twenty-five (25) trods east of the northeast corner of the northeast quarter 0 fsaid section five (5) Township and Range aforesaid. - Your petitioners aver and say that the improvement prayed for is less than three miles in length, connects at both ends with 'a free macadam road in said Township, and that a United States rural mail route passes over a part of the highway sopght herein to be Improved. Your petitioners further aver and say that the highway herein sought to be Improved is a public highway already established and in tfse and is one of the public highways of said Washington Township and that this improvement is to be a continuance of, and an extension to the Decatur and Bluffton Macadam Road. Your petitioners ask your honorable body that said highway above described be drained and graded, and that broken stone be placed upon the grade and that upon such broken stone be placed stone screenings, and that this improvement be made exclusive of crushed stone and screeniOSß’ ‘ , XV Your petitioners further ask that said highway ablove described be improved to the width to which it is now established and that said highway above described be graded to a wifith of twenty-four (24) feet, and that broken stone be placed thereon to a width of ten (10) feet, and to a depth of eight (8) inches at the
(10) inches in the center thereof, and that crushed stone screenings be placed thereon to a depth of four (4) inches upon such broken stone, that said improvement be made a double track and that the name of the same be the Andrew Appleman Macadam Road. That to pay for said improvement we ask that bonds be Issued by the County of Adams, in the State of Indiana, payable in twenty semiannual (installments or series, and for the payment of which we ask that atax be levied upon the taxable property of said Washington Township, and the City of Decatur situated therein in a sufficient amount amount to pay the interest and principal of said bonds as they become due. That said improvement be made and constructed, and that said bonds 1 be issued and said tax be levied upon the taxable property of said Township and City situated therein, in accordance with the acts of the legislature of the State of Indiana, passed in the year 1905, beginning on page 550, and as amended ip the acts of 1907, and as amended in the acts of 1909, for th® extension of tree gravel or macadam and all other and any and all amendments thereto. We further ask the Board to take all' of the necessary steps as is required by law to have said improvement constructed and made as petitioned herein, that the same be constructed without submitting the question of building the same to pn election pt the voters erf said Washington Township, and that the Board construct the same under the laws of the State of Indiana, providing for the extension of tree gravel or mitadam roads.
