Zion Macadam road, up and until 10 o’clock a. m-, dn Monday, May 3, 1909, t at a regular session of said Board of Commissioners, held in the City of Decatur, Adams county, Indiana, sealed blds will be received for the construction of said road in accordance with the plans, specifications and report of the Viewers and Engineer, which are now on file in the Auditor’s office of said county, said road to be built of crushed stone alone. A bond must accompany each bld in twice the amount of the bid filed, conditioned for faithful performance of said work, and that the bidder if awarded the contract therefor and complete the same according to such contract and in accordance with the bld filed. All bids shall be made so as to give the amount for which said road will be constructed for cash, payable on estimates to be made ny the Engineer tn charge, pot to exceed eighty per - cent of any one estimate, out of the w funds to be hereinafter raised by the sale of bonds as required by law. ;?> Each bidder will be required to file affidavit as required by law. State of Indiana, County of Adams, ss: Before the Board of Commissioners of the county of Adams, May Term, 1909. The undersigned petitioners represent to your honorable body that they are each freeholders and qualified legal voters of Root township. Adams I county, State of Indiana; that they are each interesed in the draining, draining, grading and paving of certain highways in said township, including the one hereinafter described, that they desire that the following described public highway highway be improved as below Herein set out, to-wit: Commencing at a point in the center of the public highway, at the southwest comer of section twenty-four (24), thence west over, along and Upon the public highway on the section line running east and west between sections twenty-three (23) and section twenty-six (26) to a point in the center of the public highway, at the southeast comer of section twen-ty-two (22); said highway petitioned herein to be improved being further descrbed as commencing at a point in the center of the public hghway, now a freegravel road, running north and south on the section line bounding (Sections twenty-four (24) and section twenty-five (25) on the west and section twenty-three (23) and section twenty-six (26) on the west and sections twenty-two (22) and section twenty-seven (27) on the east, said point being the common comer of sections twenty-three (23), twen-ty-two (22), twenty-six (26) and twenty-seven~(27) and at said point to terminate, all in Root township,Adams county, and State of Indiana, be graded, drained and paved with crushed or macadamized stone at the cost and expense of sa’.a Root township. That said Root township contains no incorporated town or city that has a pbpoilation bf more than thirty thousand inhabitants. That said road above described lies wholly within said Root township, and that the distance so sought to be drained, graded and paved is less than three miles. That the said road Is now, and for a Fong time has been, open to the public, and established as a public highway. That there fs now a United States rural mail route passing over the said highway, and that mail is being distributed to the patrons residing on •aid routes
I highway and connects at the comi mencement thereof with a free gravel road and that said highway connects at its terminus with a free graVel road, both of which are free of toll and are much traveled roads maint alned at the cost and expense of the county and township. We would respectfully recommend to your honorable body that the said highway be drained, graded and paved ' with crushed rock with screenings 1 placed upon the top thereof, and that the said improvement follow the general direction as at this time laid > out and established. We would further recommend that , said road be drained, graded anc i payed with crushed stone to such ! depth as the board may deem necessary. That the improving of the said road , as prayed for will be of public utility. We further recommend and repre- ' sent that as we have been compelled : to employ, and have employed, an . I attorney to prepare and to present i{this petition, and to do such other things as may be necessary to secure the necessary consideration of this petition, that he be allowed a {reasonable attorney’s fee for and on that behalf.
