LMML, ABTKKTISING. PETITION FOR STONE ROAD. State of Indiana, County of Adams, ss: Before the Board of Commissioners of the county cf Adams, October Term, IMS. We the undersigned all resident freeholders and voters of the townships of Preble and Kirkland, in the county of Adams and State of Indiana would mcst respectfully petition your honorable body to cause to be constructed on the highway already laid out and now established, a free stone macadam road on and along the following rente, to-wit: Commencing at the west end of the Decatur and Preble Macadam road at the northeast corner of section four (4) in township twenty-seven (27) north range thirteen (13) east /in Adams county, Indiana, thence running west to the northwest corner of said section four (4) in said township, county and state aforesaid and there to terminate, the same being situate an the highway dividing the townships of Preble and Kirkland and running between section four (4) in Kirkland township and section thirty-three (33) in Preble township, all in Adams county in the State of Indiana. Said petitioners show that t.he length es said proposed road will be about ene mile. Said petitioners recommend that said road be built as a double track road, and that the same be graded tc the width of 28 feet, and that crushed stone be placed hereon to the width of fourteen (14) feet, and that stone screenings be placed thereon on top of said stone. Said .petitioners further show that said road when completed will be less than three (3) miles in length and will connect at the east end thereof with the Decatur and Preble macadam road end at the west end thereof it will connect with a free macadam road, at the west line of said townships of Preble and Kirkland. Said petitioners further ask that said read be ordered built without first submitting he question of building the same to the voters of said townships of Preble and Kirkland and that said road be known as the Preble and Kirkland Macadam road. Said petitioners further ask that said road be built and that bonds be issue to pay for same payable in twenty 120) semiannual installments and that a tax be levied upon the taxable property of the township of Preble and Kirkland in said county of Adams, and State of Indiana and that said road be built and said bends be issued and such proceedings had in establishing said road and paying for the same, as provided by the acts of the legislature of the State of Indiana. approved March 8, 1905, and as amended February 25, 1907, and agreeable to any and all other laws of the State of Indiana (see Acts 1905. page 521. and acts of 1907, page 68 diaries O Hobrock, David Werling. We, the undersigned, your petitioners, each and all of whom are resident freeholders and voters of Preble township said county and State, reepectfriJly petition your honorable body to cause to be built, constructed and completed by grading, draining, and placing of crushed stone thereon a single track stone road over, along and upon the highway already established on the following described route, to-wit: Commencing at the northwest corner of the southwest quarter of’section twenty-six (26) in township twen-ty-six (26) north of ra/ge thirteen (13) east, Adams County, State of Indiana, there connecting with the Louis Worthman Macadam road, an already constructed free macadam road.thence running south along the section line between sections twenty-six (26) and twenty-seven (27) township and range aforesaid, and between sections thir-ty-four (34) and thirty-five (35) townshi pand range aforesaid, a mile and a half to the township line between PneWe and Kirkland townships, said county and state, ending at the southwest corner of section thirty-five (35) township anl range aforesaid, all in township twenty-six (26) north of range thirteen (13) east, Adams county, State of Indiana, said proposed Improvement being one mile and onehalf in length. Said petitioners further show that said proposed improvement will be on established highway and will connect on its northern end with a free macadamized road and on its southern end with the township line; that said proposed improvement will be less than three miles In length.

That said proposed road wfH he known and called the Henry Wefel macadam road. We further ask that said read be 1 improved by placing thereon crushed stone, covered with screenings to; such a depth and width as the view- ; ere and engineers may recommend. We further ask that you take such ; action on this petition as you are | authorized to do under and by virtue of an act of the General Assembly ! of the State cf Indiana, approved March Bth. 1905, and acts amendatory j thereto, and under and by virtue of any and all laws of the State of In-1 diana authorizing the construction of free macadamized stone roads. We further ask that said improvement he paid soy by bonds issued by said Adams county for and on behalf of said township cf Preble, payable in twenty semi-annual installments and for the payment cf said bonds we ask that a tax be levied upon the taxable property of said township In sufficient amount and rate to pay the interest and principal of said bonds as the same shall severally become due and payable as provided by law. We further ask that said proposed rend be ordered constructed without first having submitted the question of the building and construction thereof to an election of the voters of said township. We. the undersigned, all of whom are resident freeholders and voters of Preble Township, Adams County, Indiana, most respectfully petition your honorable body that you construct and complete a free, macadamized stone road in said Preble Township, Adams County, Indiana, along and over the public highway on the following route to-wit: Commencing at the northwest corner of the northwest quarter cf section 22, Township 28, north range 13, east, in Adams county, Indiana, run j ning thence north for a distance of 1 one mile between sections 15 and 16.! township and range aforesaid, and I terminating at the northwest corner of section 15, township and range afore-! said. Your petitioers aver and say that the improvement prayed for is less than three miles in length and connects at both ends with a free gravel road, that a United States rural mail route passes over said road. Your petitioners further aver and say that the highway sought to be improved is a public highway already established and in use and is one of the public highways of said Preble township. Your petitioners further ask that said above described be drained, graded and that broken stone be placed upon the grade, and that upon such broken stone there be placed stone screenings. Your petitioners further ask that said road as above described be graded to a width of 22 feet, and that broken stone be placed thereon to a width of ten feet, and to a depth of ten inches in the center thereof and to a depth cf 8 inches at the sides thereof, and that crushed stone screenings be placed thereon to a depth of 3 inches upon such broken stone, and that said improvement be made a single track, that the name of said road shall be the Gallmeyer macadam road. That to pay for said improvement we ask that bonds be issued by tho county of Adams, State of Indiana, payable in fwenty semi-aunual stallments or series, and for the payment of which we ask that a tax be levied upon the taxable property of said Preble township, in Adams county, Indiana, in a sufficient amount to pay the interest and principal of said bonds as they become due. That said road be built and said bonds be issued and said tax be levied upon said property of said township in accordance with the acts of the legislature of the State of Indiana, passed in the year 1905, beginning on page 550, and as amended in the acts of 1907, now in force, providing for the extension of free gravel or macadam reads, and any and all amenments thereto. We further ask the board to take all the necessary steps required by law to have said improvement constructed and made, as petitioned herein, that the same be constructed without submitting the question of building the same to an election of the voters of said Preble Township, and that the Board construct the same under the laws of the State of Indiana, now in force providing for the extension of free gravel or macadam roads. We, the undersigned, each and all of whem are resident freeholders and voters of Root township in Adams county, Indiana, respectfully petition your honorable body that you construct and cmplete a free macadamized stone road in said Root township over and upon tihe public highway situated on the following route, to-wit: Commencing at the southwest corner of section one (1) township twen-ty-eight (28) north range fourteen (14) east, in Adams county, Indiana, running thence north over the highway dividing section one (1) and section two (2) township and range aforesaid and ending and terminating at the northwest corner of said section one (1) intersecting the county line road between Adams county and Allen county and there connecting with a free macadam road on the county line aforesaid. Your petitioners aver and say that the improvement prayed for Is less than three miles in length, connects at each end with a free macadam read, and that a United States rural mail route passes over said road. Your petitioners further show and aver that the highway thus sought to be improved is a public highway already established and i n use and is one of the public highways of said Rcot township and that the improvement herein prayed for is to be an extension of the J. A. Cline macadam road in said township. Your petitioners further ask that said highway above described be drained and graded and that broken stone be placed upon the grade and that upon such broken stone there be placed stone screenings. Your petitioners further ask that said highway above described be graded to a width of thirty (30) feet, and that broken stone be placed thereon to a width of ten (1.0) feet and tn a depth of eight (8) inches at the sides thereof and to a depth of ten (10) inches in the center thereof, and that crushed stone screenings be placed thereon to a depth of three (3) inches upon such broken stone. That the said road above described > lays wholly within said Washington * township, and that the distance so sought to be drained, graded and paved is less than three miles. That the said road js now and for a Tong time has been a public road and highway, and during that time said road has been open to the public and established as a highway. That there is now and for a long time has been a United States rural mail route passing over the said highway the entire length thereof as above i described and that mail is now (and i for some time has been) carried over ’ and distributed to the patrons residing along said route. That the highway herein asked to be paved connects at the commence ment thereof as above described with a free macadam road known as the Decatur and Preble free macadam road, and at its terminus, said highway connects with the Decatur and Blufftcn free macadam road, and said highways between the points named have several laterals running north j/ and south and east and west there- * from, which are also public highways, and are extensively traveled by the public. We would respectfully recommend to vour honorable body that the said higbwav be drained, graded and paved to the width of thirty-four feet, and that the said Improvement follow the general direction as at this time laid out and established. We would further recommend that sa’d road be drained, graded and macadamized with stone to the depth as Vie board may deem necessary. That the improving cf said road will be of public utility |f improved as herein prayed for. I We further represent that we have f been compelled to and have employ- - ed attorneys to prepare and present this petition and have employed them to dt> such things as may be necessary in securing the necessary consideration of this petition, and we ask that they be allowed a reasonable fee for and on that behalf. Wherefore we pray that this petition may be granted, that the said highway between the points namest above be macadamized with stone on a uniform width of thirty-four seer, that attorneys fees be allowed in a reasonable amount and for all other proper relief Jane Woods.
