Auditor, 28- Adams County, Indiana. o— AN ORDINANCE REGULATING THE SPEED OF INTERURBAN RAILROAD CARS WITHIN THE CORPORATE L'MITS OF THE CITY OF DECATUR AND PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR THE VIOLATION OF THE SAME. Be It ordained by the Common Council in and for the City of Decatur, Indiana, that it shall be -unlawful for any conductor, motorman or other person having charge or management of, any interurban railroad car within the corporate limits of the City of Decatur, Indiana, to operate the same at any rate of speed greater than six miles per hour while passing through the City of Decatur, Indiana. Section 2. Any person violating any of the provisions of Section one of this ordinance shall be convicted or fined in any sum not less than five dollars nor more than twenty-five dollars. Section 3. It is hereby declared that an emergency exists for the immediate taking effect of this ordinance. It shall therefore be in full force from and after its passage and two weeks’ publication in the Decatur Weekly Democrat once each week for two weeks. Section 4. We, the undersigned, all of whom are resident freholders and voters, of St. Marys township, and Washington township, and the City of Decatur, situated therein, in Adams county, Indiana, petition your Honorable Body that yon construct and complete a free macadamized stone road, on the township line dividing St. Marys and" Washngton township aforesaid, over and on the following route, to-wit: Commencng at the northwest corner of the southwest quarter of section 18, township 27, north range 15 east, running thenc P south on the line divding the south half of section 13, township 27, north range 14 east, and the south half of section 18, township 27, nort hrange 15 east and on th e line dividing section 24, township 27 north range 14 east ad section 19, township 27 north range 15 east, and terminating at the southwest corner of said section 19, township and range aforesaid, being about one and one-half miles In length. Your petitioners aver and says, that the improvement prayed for is less than three miles in length connects at both ends, with a free macadam road, and that a United States rural mail route passes over said road. Your petitioners further aver and says that the highway sought to be improved is a public highway, already established and in use and is one of the public highways on the line dividing Washington and St. Marys townships. Your petitioners further ask that said highway above described be drained, graded and that broken stone be placed upon the grade, and that upon such broken stone, there be placed ston e screenings. Your petitioners further ask that said road as above described be graded, to a width of 24 feet, and that broken ston e be placd thereon to a with of 10 feet, and to a depth of 8 inches, at the sides thereof, and to a depth of 10 inches in the center thereof and that crushed stone screenings be placed thereon, to a depth of 3 inches, upon such broken stone, and 1 that said improvement be made a double track, and that the name of said road shall be the E. H. Faust Macadam Road.
