PETITION FOR STONE ROAD. State of Indiana. County of Adams, ss: Before the Board of Commissioners of the county Adams, May Term 1908. To the Honorable Beard of Commissioners, of Adams county, Indiana: We, the undersigned freeholders and legal voters in Monroe township in I Adams county, in the state of Indiana, i hereby most respectfully petition your honorable body and ask that you proceed to take the necessary and proper legal steps to a double track free macadamized stone road built, constructed and completed in said Monroe township in said county and state over oil and upon the public highway located and situated on ana along the following described route, to-wit: Commencing at the west side of the C. E. Bollinger macadam road, in Monroe township, Adams county, Indiana, at the southwest corner of the northwest quarter of section twenty in township twenty-six (26) north range fourteen (14) east in said Adams county, Indiana, which said C. E. Bollinger macadam road was built and constructed pursuant to and by virtue of an election held for that purpose in said Monroe township thence to run west through the center of section nineteen (19) In the said county and range aforesaid and over and upon the public highway already laid out and established on said route, to the township line of the townships to Monroe and French in said Adams county, Indiana, to the southwest corner of the northwest quarter (%) of said section nineteen (19) township and nar®e, county and state aforesaid and there to terminate. Said petitioners show that’said road if constructed as prayed for will be less than three miles in length and will connect at the east, end thereof with the C. E. Bollinger macadam road and at the west end with the township line road between the townships of Monroe and French as aforesaid. Said proposed road will be one mile in length. We further ask that said road be ordered constructed without first submitting the question of building the same to the voters of said Monroe township. Said petitioners ask that said road be known as the John P. Nussbaum Macadam Road.
Said petitioners pray that you take such action upon this petition and in the building of said proposed road as you are authorized and directed to do under and by virtue of an act ot the General Assembly of the State of Indiana approved March 8. 1905 (sec. 70), and as shown on page 521 of said acts and as amended February 25, 1907, as shown on pages 68 and succeeding pages of the acts of 1907. and under all other act of said General Assembly of the State of Indiana governing the building of free macadam roads. We further ask that said improvement be paid for by bonds issued by said county of Adams, payable in twenty semi-annual equal installments for the payment of which bonds, we ask that a tax be levied upon the taxable property of said Monroe township in a sufficient amount and levy the interest and principal of such bonds as the same shall severally mature and become payable, under and according to the provisions of said act of the General Assembly approved March 11, 1901, and any and all amendments thereto.
The improvement herein and hereby prayed for to be supplementary to, and a continuation of. the said C. E. Bollinger Macadam Road at and from the said point of commencement aforesaid, over and upon the said located highway aforesaid to the said township line between Monroe and French townships, to the southwest corner of the northwest quarter of said section nineteen, in said township and range aforesaid, said terminal point of the road herein prayed for being the west township line of said Monroe township. State of Indiana, County of Adams, ss: ' the Board of Commissioners 1 1908 e COUDIy Os Adams ’ Ma > Term, We, the undersigned each and all of whom are residents freeholders and voters of Root township, in Adams county, Indiana, most respectfully petition your honorable body that you proceed to have a free macadamized i stone road, constructed and completed in said Root township over and upon the public highway, situated on the following route, to-wit: Commencing at the northwest cor- 1 ner of section thirteen (13), township twenty-eight 4 28). north range fourteen (14) east, running thence east on the section line dividing sections twelve (12) and thirteen (13). and terminating at the northeast corner of section thirteen (13) township twenty-eight (28) north range fourteen (14) east, on the boundary line dividing Union and Root townships in said county and state aforesaid.
That the improvement thus prayed for is less than three miles in length and connects at the commencement I thereof with the Jay A. Cline macadam I road, in said Root township, and ends on the boundary line between Union and Root township, and there connects with an improved highway on said 1 boundary line, aforesaid. That a United States rural mail route passes over the route o f said proposed improvement. Your petitioners further ask your honorable body that said Jiighway above described be graded, and that broken stone be placed upon the grade, and that upon said broken stone there be placed stone screenings, Your petitioners further show that the highway thus sought to be improved is a public highway, already established, and is one of the public highways of said Root township, that the improvement herein prayed for is to be an extension of the said Jay A. Cline macadam road, and is to be called the Bucher Macadam Road Extension. Your petitioners further ask that said read as above described be graded to a width of twenty-four (24) feet, and that broken stone be placed thereon to a width of ten (10) feet, and to a depth of ten (10) inches in the center thereof, and that crushed stone screenings be placed thereon, to a depth of three (3) inches upon said broken stone, and that said road be constructed, as a single track. We ask that said improvement be paid for by bonds. Issued by the county of Adams, in the State of Indiana, payable in twenty semi-annual installments or series, and for the payment of which we ask that a tax be levied, upon the taxable property of said Root township, Adams county, Indiana, in a sufficient amount to pay the interest and principal of said bonds as they may become due. That said road be built, and that said bonds be issued, and said tax levied, upon sipd property, of said township in accordance with the acts of the legislature of the State of Indiana, passed in the year 1905, beginning on page 550, and as amended in the acts of 1907, now in force providing for the extension of free gravel or macadam roads. We, the undersigned.--ail of whom are resident freeholders and voters of Hartford township, in Adams county, State of Indiana, most respectfully petition _your honorable body that you proceed to have a free macadamized stone road constructed and completed in said Hartford township, said county and state over and upon the public highway, situated on the following route, to-wit: Commencing at the north-west corner of the southeast quarter of section twentv-seven (27), township twentyfive (25) north range thirteen (13) east, running thence north one (1) mile through the center of the north half of said section twenty-seven (27) and through the center of the south half of section twenty-two (22) township and range aforesaid, and terminating at the southwest corner of the northeast quarter of said section twen-ty-three (23) township and range aforesaid. That the improvement thus prayed for is less than three miles in length and connects at both ends w’ith a free i gravel road. Your petitioners further ask your honorable body that said highway heretofore described be graded and that

O. Bears free gravel road.
Your petitioners further ask that said road as above described be graded to a width of twenty-four *24) feet, and that broken stone be placed thereon, to a width of ten (10) feet and to a depth of ten (10) inches in the center thereof, and to a depth of eight (8) inches at the sides thereof, and that crushed stone screenings be placed thereon to a depth of three (3) inches upon said broken stone. That said road be constructed as a double track, that the name ot said road shall be the Breadstock Macadam Road extension. We ask that said improvement be paid for by bonds issued by the county of Adams in the State of Indiana, payable in twenty semi-annual installments or series, and for the payment of which we ask that a tax be levied upon the taxable property of said Hartford township, Adams county, Indiana, in a sufficient amount to pay the interest and principal of said bonds as they may become due. That said road be built, and that said bonds be issued, and said tax be levied, upon said taxable property, of said township, in accordance with the acts of the legislature of the State of Indiana, passed in the year 1905, beginning on page 550. and as amended in the acts of the legislature of the State of Indiana for the year 1907, and now in force providing for the extension of free gravel or macadam roads. We further ask that the board take the different steps as required by law, to have improvement constructed and made as petitioned herein that the same be constructed without submitting the question of building the same to an election of the voters of said Hartford township, and that they construct the same under the laws of the State of Indiana, now in force providing for the extension of free gravel or macadam roads.

Commencing on the township line between the townships of Kirkland and Washington in said county and state, and on the south side of the Decatur and Bluffton Macadamized Road, at the northeast corner of section twelve (12) township twentyseven (27) north range thirteen (13) east, in said county and state, thence running south on said township line along and upon the public highway thereon situate a distance of about two miles and to the southwest corner of section eighteen (18) in said township twenty-seven (27) north range fourteen (14) east, and to the north side of the West Washington Macadam Road and there to terminate. That said proposed road be known and called “The Washington-Kirkland Macadam Road.” We further ask that the crushed stone portion of said road be laid. placed and built on the east side of said highway, and that the stone so placed on said proposed highway be covered and dressed with stone screenings. We further ask that you take such action upon this petition as you are authorized and directed to do under and by virtue of an act of the General Assembly of the State of Indiana, approved March Bth, 1905, and under and by virtue of any and all other laws of the State of Indiana authorizing the construction of free macadamized roads. We further ask that said improvement be paid for by bonds issued by the said county of Adams for and on behalf of said townships of Kirkland and Washington aforesaid, payable in twenty semi-annual installments and tor the payment of said bonds we ask that a tax be levied upon the taxable property of said Washington and Kirkland townships in sufficient amount and rate to pay the interest and principal of said bonds as the same shall severally become due and payable, as provided by law.
