Mr. and Mrs. Peter Shafer, of Willshire, who . have been visiting relatives at Ft. Wayne,, passed through our city today enroute to their home, Misses Mary Deam, Lucile Locke and Hermina Wiecking returned home last night from Glendale, Ohio, where they have been attending school, for the past year. The local base ball team will play at Ft, Wayne next Sunday and the interurban people have consented to run their cars every hour and a half to accomodate those who desire to attend the game. CLARA BAUM GIVEN A DIVORCE The Glendenning Damage Cases Were Dismissed—Other Business of Importance Transacted. Saturday was closing day of the April term of the Adams county circuit court and an eleven weeks vacation period begins Monday, the September term opening bn Noonday, September 3rd. Judge Erwin will leave within ten weeks for a trip to Lob Angeles and return which will keep him away from the city until nearly time for the fall term. State of Indiana, County of Adams, ss: Before the Board of Commissioners of the county of Adams, July term, 1907. ’ ' We, the undersigned each and all of whom are residents freeholders and voters of Kirkland township in Adams county, Indiana, most respectfully petition your honorable body that you proceed"'to have a free Macadamized Styne Road constructed and completed in said Kirkland township, over andnhpon the public highway, situated on. following route, to-wit: Commencing at the northwest corner of section twenty-five (25) township twenty-seven (27) north range thirteen (13) east, running thence east between sections twentyfour (24) and twenty-five (25), and ending at the northeast corner of said section twenty-five (25), township and range aforesaid, the end and terminus thereof being on the boundary line between Washington township, Adams county, Indiana, and Kirkland township aforesaid. That the improvement thus prayed for is less than three miles in length, and connects both ends with a free macadam road. ■' Your petitioners further ask your honorable body that said highway above described be graded, and that broken stone be placed upon the grade and that upon said broken stone that there be placed stone screenings. Your petitioners further show that the highway thus sought to be improved is a .public highway, already established, and Is one of the public highways'“df J Kirkland township, that the prayed for Is to be an extension of the Decatur and Blufftofe-'MfiftaaAfti Rcfed, and connects at the commencement thereof with the Decatur and Bluffton Road, and at the end arid “ ter mlnUs thereof the same connects with the West Washington Macadam Road Extension No. 5.
Your petitioners; further ask that said road as above described be graded to a Width of twenty-four (24) feet, and that broken stone be placed thereon, to awldth of ten (10) feet, and to a depth of eight (8) inches at the sides thereof, and to a depth of teh (10) inches in the center thereof, and that crushed stone screeniiigs be placed thereon to a depth of three (3) Inches upon said broken stone, that said road be constructed as a double track, that -the name of said road shall be the Decatur and Bluffton Macadam Road Extension No. 7. We ask that said improvement be paid for by bonds issued by the county of Adams, in the state of Indiana, payable in twenty semi-annual installments or series, and for the payment of which we ask that a tax be levied upon the taxable property of said Kirkland township, Adams county, Indiana, in a sufficient: amount to pay the Interest and principal of said bonds as they may become due. That said road be. built and that said bonds be issued, and said tax be levied upon said property of said township, in accordance with the acts of thel egislature of the state of Indiana, passed in the year 1905, beginning on page 550, and as amended in the acts of 1907 now in force providing for the extension of free gravel or macadam roads. We further ask that the board take the differbnt steps as requited by law, to have said improvement constructed, and made, as petitioned herein, that the Baine be constructed without submitting the' question of building the same to, an election of t thev oters of said Kirkland township, and that they construct the name under the laws the staet of Indiana, now in force pro-
