Miss Lucile Case entertained Monday evening at her home on Eighth street and the evening was very pleasantly spent in music and games. Ttye time was passed very pleasantly. The guests departed at a late hour, voting Miss Case a charming entertainer. Over three hundred newsboys and paper carriers of Fort- Wayne were the guests of Manager M. E. Rice at the performance of “Texas” at the Majestic theatre Wednesday' evening. The boys were marshalled in a long line at the office of Charles A. Phelps in the Arcade, and just before the performance marched down the center of the street to the theater, cheering vociferously; —After the show three cheers and a tiger were given for Mr. Rice. The chair car’at the rear of the train, filled with passengers retunrftiig-' from ; holiday visits,' jumped the frack and bumped along on the ties for 1,000 feet. The accident occurred on a straight stretch of track and the train was brought to a standstill as quickly as possible, thereby ayprting a serious wreck. It was a nerve racking event, and the passengers were jolted aboiit in a lively fashion before the train was stopped. Train dispatchers all over the country are organizing a movement to demand an increase in their salaries. They contend that there are a number of employees of the railroads who receive comfortable salaries and whose duties are comparatively easy, while the dispatchers are hard worked and are not even paid fair wages. The managers of the Interurban are experiencing considerable trouble in making their first run. Everything has seemingly been in readiness for several days, but at just the moment they wanted to start, something bucks. They, however, expect to run a car ' up street either late this afternoon or this evening.
