We are in receipt of the Oaxaca Herald, the Mexican newspaper upon which Paul Wooten is editor. Henry McLean was arrested Sunday afternoon by Marshal Green on a charge of intoxication and was arraigned before his Honor Monday and was given the usual dose. Henty was not satisfied with this manner of; justice and appealed his case to the circuit court, where it will be tried during the present term. Charles Moore returned at noon by way of Chicago and St. Louis for his home at Phoenix, Arizona. He had been visiting relatives here for a week or ten days. He was accompanied to his western home by Miss Ida May, .who hopes to make that country her home. Mrs. I. B. McDonald, of Columbia City, has caused the arrest of R. 0. ’ Kinney, a real estate dealer, at Detroit; alleging that he swindled her in inducing her. to exchange 160 acres- of land in South Dakota for almost worthless property in Canada Mrs. McDOhald claims damages in the sum of $3,000. Messrs, and Mesdames Wm. Aleny of Ft. Wayne, Joseph Gehring and daughter of Huntington, Isaac Gehr-( ing and daughter, and Misses Maud Oline, Tene Adams May Bauman, of Bluffton, Carrie and Harry Homer of Craigville, Ross Niblick of Craigville, and Harve Bixler of Huntingtori, were guests at the Breiner home on Monroe street, Sunday. Rev. Klausing and son Walter left this morning for Fort Wayne,, where he will make all preliminary,ajrrangemerits for his soh to enter Concordia College, where he will take up a course of work in preparation -for the ministry. ‘ Mr. Klausing will remain at the Concordia college for six years and will then go to St. Louis, where he will finish his course and will then be a full-fledged minister. The first family reunion of the Shroll family was held Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Shroll of Berne. His six children, George, of this city, John, Geneva, Bert, of Wren, Ohio, Mrs. John Merica of this city, Mrs. Willis Syphers of Lima, 0., and Mrs. George Painter of Durbin, "Y'a fifteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, W. H. Abnett, a cousin of Nevada, 0., and many friends, were present and enjoyed the day. Chess players from Michigan, Indiana and Ohio arrived in Marion Monday to attend the meeting of the , Tri-State Chess association which will continue throughout the week. The meetings will be held in the nations of the Commercial club. Chess tournaments among the members of the association will be the principal feature of the program Miss Corneia Slater and Miss Mary Dondera returned to Fort Wayne Saturday evening. While here they were the guests of Miss Ethel Botthoff, and were accompanied home Saturday evening by Miss Slater’s father, making the trip in his touring ear. I

An inventory was filetf in the William Sheets estate, the inventory being filed by Clark J. Lutz, as attorney for the administratrix. D. B. Erwin filed a new case entitled John W. Vizard vs. Clifford Death, suit on note, demand S2OO. Sheriff Butler and deputy are busy today summoning the petit jury to meet next-Monday morning. The criminal docket contains several important cases, among them being James Johnson for assault! and battery with intent to kill, Clark B. Funk for blackmailing, Maples and Trim for -selling liquor to minors, Frank Abbott for peddling goods witout license, Albert Moyer for allowing minors to play pool, William Ray for assault and battery with Intent) to kill, William Byrd for selling liquor on election day. Deputy Clerk Baumgortner issued three marriage licenses late Saturday afternoon, the happy couples being Royal K. Gaskill and Ola Viola Stevens, Kit Carson Cowan and Alice Elizabeth Daugherty, Charles Anson Van Camp and Pearl Ward. • The cases of State vs. Beth Herrick, Ephraim Howard, 'George R. Hagerman, Clarence McCarty ■ were, ordered left off the docket and the cases of State vs. Lafayette Ellis, Emma Walters, George W. Cooper and Charles Phillips, were dismissed. The viewers and engineer’s report on extension three of the Geneva, Ceylon & Wabash macadam road, was filed and approved, together with the consent of the town board of Geneva for the load improvement. Albert Walters was appointed superintendent on extension one of the French township Central road. Isaac Bowman was appointed, but he de- ! dined. Application was made to the board of commissioners for the admission of David E. Kemp to the school for feeble minded at Fort Waynej The requirements for such admission were complied with, and it is likely that such admission will be permitted by the authorities of this institution. The viewers’ report on the Hockemeyer road was approved, and a notice to contractors ordered for Oct. 1. Supt. Graber was instructed to remove the fence around the jail lot, move it and rebuild it in front of the asylum buildings. The change will add much to the appearance of both public buildings. SOME REAL ESTATE DEALS George Kinzle Buys a House-The Snow Real Estate Agency Has Been Busy. The Snow Real Estate agency has been doing some business, they reporting a number of sales during the past few days. Fred Scheimnn has traded his north end property to C. E. Sullivan, taking in exchange a west end property, an automobile, and a chunk of cash. The west end property was later sold to Mrs. Amanda Sells, the automobile yet remaining in stock. The remainder of the Ells Worth farm was sold, T. E. Perkins getting twenty-four acres at, SIOO per, and Mont Evans the remaining twentytwo acres. This farm is now all sold. Some time ago Clark J. Lutz bought part of it, latet Conrad Gillig took several acres and these two sales completes the sale of the entire farm, whjch netted $7,200. The Emanuel Beery property in the south part of the city, has been sold to Miss Belle Grim, for $450. George Kinzle is now the owner of the Cook property on Fifth street, the consideration being SI4OO. Mr. Kinzle will occupy his late purchase. These sales were all made through the Snow Agency. The remains of the infant child of Mr. and Mrs. John Sampson arrived this morning from Fort Wayne and a short funeral service was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. S. 0. Bulkhead in the south part of the ' city this afternoon. Interment was made in the Decatur cemetery. Attorney L. C. DeVoss rceived word this morning from Judge LaFollette of Portland, stating that he had denied a new trial in the case of the City of Decatur vs. Sidney Humphreys, and that the former finding stood. This closes this famous case, wherein Mr. Humphreys refused to pay his electric light bill at the Burt Hotel.

' ♦ Saturday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Stevens in the west part of the city occurred the wedding of their beautiful daughter, Miss Viola, to Mr. Roy Gaftill of Fort Wayne. The wedding was a quiet affair and was attended by only the immediate relatives of the contracting parties. The ceremony was performed by Rev. John C. White, and took place at five o’clock. The Stevens home was beautifully decorated for the occasion., and the young people were married in tho parlor, beneath ,an arch of roses and ferns, I the ring ceremony being used. Miss Stevenfs is a popular young lady, who, for the past few years, has been working at Fort Wayne, and it was at that place she was met and wooed by Mr. Gaftell. The groom is one of Fort Wayne% hustling young business men, being in the employ of the Hoffman Lumber Company, and from what we are able to learn, bears a reputation that is untarnished. The young couple left Sunday morning for Ohio, where they will make a short visit and will then be at home to their many friends at Fort Wayne.
