Said brick in said wells to be laid up in mortar composed of one part Bronson’s Portland cement and two parts clean, sharp sand. All wells to be connected up with the tile drains already in and the contractor shall furnish al tile for conections and tile to be'no smaller than those already in. The contractor shall repair all damage that he may cause to tile drains already in along sides of grade. The wells on each side of the grade at station 76 shall be connected bv a string of 6” first-class tile to be laid across the grade to depth hereafter given by the engineer. REPAIR OF ABUTMENTS. At the bridge at station 50 plus 50 the contractor shall extend the northwest wing of the abutment 12 inches and the south-west wing 8 feet. Said extensions to be made of concrete as specified for the bulkheads and they are to conform in all respects to the wings already in. CRUSHED STONE, KIND. ETC. The stone shall be placed on the subgrade or road-bed to a width of ten (10) feet and ten (10) inches in the center and eight (8) inches at the sides and shall be placed on the side of the road-bed leaving a space of three (3) feet between the shoulder of the grade on side and the. edge of the ?tone placed thereon. The upper three (3) inches of said crushed stone shall be composed of screenings. *•— All material to be placed on the grade in a neat and workmanlike manner. The stone must be graded in before final acceptance. All stone must be so crushed that at least 80 per cent, will pass through a two-inch ring. Where stone is unloaded all the coarser particles shall be raked to the bottom.. Said stone shall be equal to the product of the Linn Grove or Decatur quarries. At approaches to brdges the dirt road shall be stoned for fifty (50) feet on each side
- ■- ■ ■ ■ =■ STIPULATIONS. The work as it progresses will be laid out by the engineer and stakes set by him must be prepared. Tire material for the various improvements shall be on the ground at the place of improvement before the old materials are removed. The Board of Commissioners, the Engineer and the Superintendent reserve the right to inspect the materials used and condemn the same if necessary, and all materials so condemned shail be removed from the right-of-way and not used at any time in the construction of said improvement. Corner stones, landmarks, etc., must be respected by the coptractor while making said improvement. It is expressly understood that the contractor is not compelled to place jin any tile, culverts, bridges o>. approaches at any private lane, crossing, road, etc., and if any fence, post or similar master be within the limits of the rlght-of-way of the proposed improvement is not removed by the party to whom they belong, after having had sufficient notice, then the contractor shall remove the same. It is expressly understood that when the time comes for accepting the road the contractor shall have the side drains in goon condition and shall have scraped in the stone and leveled the entire road and have in all respects complied with the specifications. ROADWAY, GRADE, ETC. The roadway must be clear of all fences, trees, stumps, logs and all rubbish of whatsoever nature it may be. All stumps must be either grubbed or blasted out in the drains or on the grade. The right-of-way shall be forty (40) feet in width. • If at any time during the contruction of or before the final acceptance of the sapie the grade should settle the eontractor shall fill all depressions and restore the same to the original specifications.. The grade shall be of the double track system of a uniform width of twenty-six (26) feet from shoulder to shoulder with a slope of four (4) inches from center to either side. The sub-grade shall be rolled by the contractor at such times and places as may be deemed necessary by the superintendent or engineer with a roller of not less than six (6) tonkin weight before placing any stone thereon. The road-bed shall be made in a smooth and workmanlike manner and inspected and accepted In 1000 feet sections before any material is placed thereon. » t *. The approaches on eatJi side of the. river bridge at Pleasant Mills shall be widened to 24 feet at top and to a distance of 150 feet on each side from the end of the bridge. DRAINS. The side drains shall be cut not less than eighteen (18) inches below the hip of the grade. All drains to be constructed in a neat and workmanlike manner with sufficient fall and outlet to carry all the water that may accumulate therein and remove the same from the highway. The ditch, on. west side of road from station 287 plus 80 to 294 shall be moved west so that the east bank of same Will be at the edge of the right-of-way by excayating earth and placing same on right-of-way. . The new ditch shall conform as to depth and width to the original specifications. From station 166 to 269 side drains shall be constructed and dirt track graded as specified abpve, SEWERS. „ Cast iron sewers shall be placed at the following places: At station 11 plus 85 an 8” cast iron sewer 26 feet long. At station 20 plus 20 an 8” cast iron sewer 26 feet long. At station 25 plus 80 an 8” cast iron sewer 26 feet long. At station 26 plus 20 an 8” cast iron sewer 26 feet long.
