To the Honorable Board of Commissioners of Adams County, Indiana: We, the undersigned viewers and engineer appointed by your Honorable Board at the April term, 1906, and in puruance to the within order of said petition would most respectfully submit the following report. In pursuance to said order we, D. J. Dilling and L. W.'Lewton as viewers, and L. L. Baumgartner as engineer met at the Auditors office in Decatur, Indiana, and after being duly sworn as prescribed by law we proceeded to lay out and straighten said road as shown by that part of our report which is marked exhibit “A” and which report shoiws the route of the proposed road. Also a profile showing the grade of road as established and showing “cuts and fills,” also location of drains and sewers: said profile is marked exhibit “B,” the same being on file in the office of the Auditor of Adams County Indiana. . We further find no claims for damages of any kind whatever. We further find the estimate cost of the proposed improvement to !>e $294:; 20. DESCRIPTION OF THE WES T WASHINGTON EXTENSION NO. SEVEN. Commencing at a point where the West Washington Macadam Road and C. E Bollinger Macadam Road crosses the township line between Washington and Monroe townships, Adams county, Indiana, thence running west on the township line road between sections 31 and 6 until it interesects with the township line at the nor*h-west corner of section 6, township 26 north, range 14 east, and there to terminate. _„7 he i en &th of the proposed road is 5350 feet or 1.01 mile. ROADWAY, GRADE, ETC. The roadway must be clear of all fences, trees, stumps, logs and all rubbish of whatsoever nature it may be. All stumps must be either grubbed or blasted out in the drains or on the grade. The right-of-way shall be forty (40) feet in width. There shall be cast Iron sewers placed at the following stations: At station 37 a 6” cast iron sewer, 26 feet long. At station 48 a 6’ ’cast iron sewer, - 26 feet long. ~ At station 53 plus 20, a 6” cast iron sewer, 26 feet long. BULKHEADS. The contractor shall build bulkheads at each end of the above sewe-s composed of one part Bronson’s Portland cement, one part clean, sharp sand, and two parts of crushed stone; all parts of said stone that will not pass through a two-inch ring shall not be used in said concrete. All bulkheads shall commence eighteen (18) Inches below the pipe and extend six (6) inches above the surface of the stone placed on the roadbed and shall be fifeen <154 inches thick and extend eighteen (18) inches on each side of the pipe. ■WELLS AND CONNECTIONS. At station 12 plus 4, two wells, one on each side of the grade. At station 13 plus 75 two wells, one on each side of the grade. At station 18 plus 50. two wells, one on each side of the grade. At station 48 two wells, one on each side of the grade Said wells to be built of hard burned brick laid flatwise and to extend eighteen (18) inches below the bottom of the tile and walled up to the surface of the side drains: said wells to be not less than two (2) feet In diameter and arched at the top so as to receive an eighteen (18) inch cast iron grate securely fastened thereon. Said brick in said wells to be laid up in mortar composed of one part Bronson’s Portland cement and two parts clean, sharp sand. / All wells to be connected up with the tile drains already in and the contractr shall furnish al Itlle for the eoneetions and the tile to .be no smaller than those already in. ‘ The contractor shal Irepair all damages that he may cause to tile drains already in along the sides of the grade. Above wells to be connected by a 6” tile drain laid across tfce grade to the depth gi'ven hereafter by the engineer. At station J 3 plus 75 the wells are to be connected with the tile drain in the filed: said connections to be each about two rods long and composed of 6” tile. CRUSHED STONE, KIND, ETC stone shall be placed on the sub-grade or road-bed to a width of ten (10) feet and ten (10) inches in the cener and eight (8) inches at the sides and shall be placed on the south side of the road-bed leaving a space of three feet between the Shoulder of the grade on the south side and the edge of the stone placed thereon. All material to be placed on the grade in a neat and workmanlike manner. The stone to be graded In before final acceptance. The stone to be so crushed that at least 80 per cent, of it will pass through a two-inch ring. Where stone is unloaded all the coarser particles shall be raked to the bottom. Said stone to be equal to the product of the Linn Grove or Decatur quarries. STIPULATIONS. The wor kas it progresses will be laid out by the engineer and stakes set by him must be preserved. The material for the various improvements shall be.on the ground at the place of improvement before the old materials are removed. The Board of Commissioners, the Engineer and the Superintendent reserve the right to inspect the materials used and condemn the same if necessary and all materials so condemned shall be removed from the right-of-way and not used at any time in the construction of said improvement. The subgrade shall be rolled by the contractor at such times and places as may be deemed necessary by the superintendent or engineer with a roller of not less than six (6) tons in weight before placing any stone therein. The road-bed shall be made in a smooth and workmanlike manner and inspected and accepted in 1000 feet sections before any material is placed thereon. - t Grade and line stakes set by the engineer and destroyed through the negligence of the contractor shall be set again at the contractor’s expense. DRAINS. The side drains shall be cut not less than eighteen (18) inches below the nip of the grade. All drains to be constructed in a neat and workmanlike manner with sufficient fall and outlet to carry all the water that may accumulate therein and remove the same from highway. The ditch from station 62 to 62 plus 60 shall be moved so that the north bank of said ditch will be at the edge of the right-of-way, by excavating dirt and placing same on the right-of-way After the above ditch is constructed as indicated above the contractor shall build a concrete wall along the north bank, 60 feet long, 5% feet high, 1% feet thick at the bottom and 1 foot thick at the top; said wall to commence 2 feet below the bottom of the ditch. Concrete of wall to be composed of material as specified for the bulkheads. From station 15 plus 50 to 16 the contractor shall put in on the south side of the sub-grade one string of a inch first-class tile to be laid to the grade hereinafter given by the engineer. SEWERS, Cast iron sewers shall be placed at the following stations: At station 33, an 8”' cast iron sewer, 26 feet long At station 43 plus 50, a 10” cast iron sewer 26 feet long. At station 50 plus 50, a 10” cast iron sewer 26 feet long. At station 64 plus 30, an 8” cast iron sewer 26 feet long. BULKHEADS. Commencing at the north-west corner of section twenty-four (24) in township twenty-five (25) north, range thirteen (13) east, in Adams county, Indiana, at a pik'b known as the "Jimtown Pike," in . said township and range; thence to run west on the public highway between sections fourteen, (14) and twenty-three (23) and sections fifteen (15) and twenty-two (22) and sections sixteen (16) and twentyone (21) to the public highway running north and south on "(he center of said sections sixteen (16) and twen-ty-one (21s and there to terminate.. At station 114 plus 80 a steel bridge 10x16 feet with concrete floor. At station 62 plus 50 the contractor shall raise the abutments already in 6 inches and lengthen the same to 26 feet and place thereon stone 6” thick. 2’ feet wide and 4’ long The above extensions shall be made of concrete. The above abutments and bridges shall be built according to the plans and specifications’hereto attached. At approaches to bridges the dirt road shall be stoned to a distance of fifty feet on each side. It is expressly understood that the stone in the abutments and also the bridges that are now in shall be carefully removed by the contractor and shall be the property of the township. CRUSHED STONE, KIND, ETC.
