Sast iron sewer pipes shall be placed across the grade at the following stations: At station 2 plus 80 an 8-inch cast iron seiner pipe 26 feet long. At station 48 a 12-inch cast iron sewer pipe 26 feet long. At station 52 plus 51 an 8-inch cast iron sewer pipe 2 6 feet long. At station 158 plus*:i7T a 6-inch cast iron sewer pipe 26 feet long. At station 210 plus 60 a 6-inch cast iron sewer pipe 26 feet long. There shall be bulkheads built at each end of the above cast iron sewier pipes and at the ends of the sewer already i n at station 2(1’3 plus 90. Said bulkheads shall be composed of one (1) part Bronson’s Portland Cement, one (1) part clean sharp sand and two (2) parts of crushed stone. All parts of said stone that will not pass through a two-inch ring shall not beused in Said wells to be built of hard burned brick laid flatwise and to extend eighteen (18) inches below the bottom of the tile and walled up to the surface of the side drains said wells to be not less than two feet in diameter and arched at top so as to receive an eighteen (18) inch cast iron grate securely fastened thereon. Said brick in said wells to be laid in mortar composed of one part Bronson’s Portland Cement and two (2) parts of clean sharp sand. All wells to be connected up with tile drain already in, the contractor to furnish all tile for connections, and tile to be no smaller than that already in. The contractor shall repair all damages that he may cause to tile drains already in along sides of grade. At station 186 plus 60 there shall be constructed a 12-ft. arch according to the plans and specifications hereto attached. Crushed Stone, Kind. Etc. The crushed stone shall be placed on the sub-grade or road bed to a width of ten (10) feet and shall be ten (10) inches deep in center and eight (8) einchs at sides, and shall be placed on the north sidq ot road-bed, leaving a space three (3) feet between the north shoulder of grade and the edge or stone placed thereon. The upper three (3) inches of said crushed stone shall be composd of screenings. All material to be placed on grade in a neat and workmanlikemanner. The stone to be graded in befcre final acceptance. All stone must be so crushed that at least eighty (80) per cent will pass through a 2-inch ring. Where stone is un-oaded all the coarser particles shall be raked to the bottom. Said stone shall be equal to the product of the Linn Grove or Decatur quarries. At approaches to bridges or arches the dirt road shall be stoned for 50 feet on each side. Stipulations. The work as it progresses will be laid out by the engineer and stakes set by him must be preserved. The material for the various improvements shall be on the ground at the place of improvement before the old materials are removed. The Board of Commissioners, the engineer and the superintendent reserve the right to inspect the materials used and condemn the same if necessary and all the materials s> condemned shall be removed from the right-of-way and not used at any time in the construction of said improvement. Corner-stones, landmarks, etc. must be respected by the contractor while making said improvement. It is expressly understood that the contractor is not compelled to place any tile, culverts, bridges or approaches at any private lane, cros' sing. road. etc., and if any fence, post or similar matter be within the limits of the right-of-way of tne proposed improvement is not removed by the party to whom tlmy belong after having sufficient notice, then the contractor shall remove the same. it is expressly understood tn<? when the time comes for acceding the road, the contractor shall I a”e ihe side drains in good condition and shall have scraped in the stone and leveled the entire road and have in all respects complied with the specifications. All pavments for said improvement will be paid for in cash at the Treasurer’s office in the city of Decatur Indiana, on estimates made bv the engineer, complying in all respects with the Acts of the Genoral Assembly of the State of Indiana. approved March 8, 1905. Baumgartner as engineer, met at the Auditor’s office-at Decatur, Ind., and after being duly sworn as prescribed by law we proceeded to examine, lay out and straighten said road as shown by that part of our report which is marked exhibit “A” and which report shows the route of the proposed road. Also a profile showing the grade of said road as established and showing “cuts and fills,” also location of drains and sewers, said profile is marked exhibit “B,” the same being on fije in the office of the County Auditor. We further find that the proposed improvement in ccordance with the pians and specifications herein set forth would be of public benefit and utility. We further find no claims ior dan ages of any kind whatever. We further estimate the cost ot the proposed improvement to be nine thousand eight sixty-four 15100 ($9,864.15) dollars. Description of the Bleeke M»icaiiain Road. Commencing at the northwest corner of section nineteen (19) in said township twenty-eight (28) north, range fifteen east, in said Adams County, State of Indiana, thence running east between sections 18 and 19. 17 and 20, 16 and 21 to the northeast corner of section twentyone and there to terminate. The length of the proposed roao os 15,660 ft., or 2.96 miles. Roadway, Grade, Etc. TJie roadway must be clear of all fences, trees, stumps, logs and all other rubbish of whatsoever nature it may be. All stumps must be grubbed or blasted out in drains or on grade. The right-of-way shall be forty (40) feet in width. If at any tine during the construction of or before final acceptance of the same the grade should settle the contractor shall fill all depressions and restore the same to the original specifications. The grade shall be of the doubletrack svstem of a uniform width of twenty-six (26) feet from shoulder to shoulder, with a slope of four (4) inches from center to either side. The sub-grade shall be rolled by the contractor at such times and places as may be deemed necessary by the superintendent or engineer with a roller of not less than six (6) tons in weight before placing any stone thereon. The road-bed shall be made in a smooth and workmanlike manner and be inspected and accepted in 1,000 ft. sections before any material is placed thereon. Grade and line stakes set by the engineer and destroyed by the contractor through negligence will be set Wtain at the contractor’s expense Drains. The side drains shall be cut not
less than eighteen (18) inches below the hip of the grade. All drains to be constructed in a neat and workmanlike manner with sufficient fall and outlet to carryall water chat may accumulate therein and remove same from highway. Cast Iron Sewers. Cast iron sewers shall be placed across the grade as follows: At station 13 an 8-inch east iron sewer 26 feet long. At station 53 an 8-inch cast iron sewer 26 feet long. At station 67 a 6-inch tile drain across the grade. At station 91-10 a 6-inch tile drain across the grade. At station 73 lengthen sewer tile already- in to 26 feet. On each end of the arch at station 112 there is to be constructed concrete banisters 2 ft. high, 1% ft. thick and extend across the arch. Said concrete to be competed of material as specified for in bulkheads. There shall be built at each end of said sewer pipe bulkheads composed of one (1) part Bronson’s Portland Cement and one (1) part clean sharp sand and two (2) parts crushed stone; all parts of said crushed stone that will not pass through a two-inch ring shall not be used in said concrete. All bulkheads shall commence eighteen (18) inches below the pipe and extend six (6) inches above the surface of the stone placed in roadbed and shall be fifteen (15) inches thick and extend eighteen (18) inches on each side of pipe. Wells. There shall be wells placed as for lows: Station 1 plus 80 two wells. Station 13 one well on south sideStation 18 one well on south side (and also a bulkhead. Station 24 one welt on south side. Station 53 one well on north side. Station 58 two wells. Station 67 one well. Station 91 plus 10 two wells. Station 126 plus 20 two wells. Station 146 two wells. Station 155 two wells. Description of Pleasant Valiev & Oak Grove gravel road extension No. 3: Commencing at the nortbwe« corner of section twelve (12.) townshiu twenty six (26) north, range (14) east, running thence east on section line between one (1) and twelve (12.) connecting the Oak Grove & Pleasant Valley macadam road with the township line between Monroe and Blue Creek townships, and terminating at the northeast corner of section twelve (12,) in township and range atore said. The length of the' proposed road is 5,200 feet, or .98 mile. ROADWAY, GRADE, ETC. The roadway must be clear of all fences, trees, stumps, logs, and all rubbish of whatsoever nature it may be. The side drains shall be cut not less than eighteen (18) inches below the hip of the grade. "All drains to be constructed” in”a neat ard workmanlike manner, with sufficient fall and outlet to carry all the water that may accumulate therein and remove the same from highway. WELLS. There shall be ,wells built at the following places: At station 35 plus 80, 2 wells, one on esch side of grade. At station 42 plus 85, 2 wells, one on each sile of grade. At station 51 plus 75, 2 wells, one on each side of grade. Said wells to be built of the best hard burned brick laid flatwise, and to extend eighteen (18) inches below the bottom of the tile and walled up to the svrface of the side drains, said wells to be not less than two (2) feet in diameter and arched at the top so as to receive an eighteen (18) inch cast iron grate securely fastened thereon. Said brick in said wells to be laid up in mortar composed of one part Bronson’s Portland cement and two parts of clean sharp sand. All wells to be connected up with tile already in,the contractor to furnish all tile for connections, and tile to be no smaller than that already in. The contractor shall repair all damages that he may cause to tile drains already in along sides of grade. BRIDGE. At station 12 plus 85 the contractor shall build a bridge of steel and abutments of concrete, as specified in plans and specifications hereto attached. CRUSHED STONE, KIND, ETC. The crushed stone shall be plaoed on the sub grade or roadbed to a with of ten (10) feet, and ten (10) inches deep in the center and eight (8) inches at sides, and shall be placed on the north side of roadbed, leaving a space ot three (3) feet between the north shoulder of grade and to hedge of stone plaoed thereon. The upper four (4) inches of aid tone shall be oompjsed of creenings. All material to be placed on the grade in a neat and workmanlike manner. The stone shall be graded in be fore final acceptance.
