Route One. Charles Ball, of Monroeville, is the guest of Delma Ruckman. J. A. Fuhrman is getting out timber to built a new barn in the pring. John Singleton attended the literary meeting at Monmouth Friday night.. Abraham Reed, of Cleveland, Ohio, is visiting with relatives in this vicinity. John and Samuel Fuhrman attended the funeral ot Solomon Neireiter at Hoagland last Wednesday. Clares Hockemeyer, who has been quite sick for the last few days, is reported better at this writing. State Line. Olie Gaunt was at Wren Friday. J. E. Snyder was at Decatur Friday. C. H. Snyder and son Carl were at Decatur Saturday. William Drake was a business caller at Wren Saturday. Samuel Treaster of near Bobo, was in our vicinity Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Alonzo Johnson were shopping at Decatur Friday. J. S .Liohtenbarger was a caller on Mrs. O]ie Gaunt and family Friday. Mrs. Herrietti Hindenlang had a new iron roof put on her house Saturday. Nathan Gause was visiting j friends and relatives near Willshire I Sun lay. Mrs. J. S . Lichtenberger was a caller on Mr. Benjamin Manley and family last Sunday. Revival services are still in progress at the Pleasant View Baptist church, and at Wren. W. G. Tumbleson, who oontemI plates building a new barn in the spring was in our vicinity Saturday and purchased some timber of W. W. Stewart. P leasant Mills. Nimrod McCullough is reported on the sick list. The meetings closed at the M. E. church Sunday evening. Mrs. Jacob Yager, of Decatur, spent Sunday here with ie!atives. Miss Mary Fuller is spending a few days in Toledo with her brother and family. The ice harvest has opened this week and quite a large quantity is being stored away. Mrs. Samuel St ele is numben d with the sick. Also Mrs. C. W. Yager is ailing and under the doctor’s care. Fred Gustensleigher returned to Ft. Wayne Monday, after a few days’ visit here with his sister, Mrs. Frank Masters and family. At the home of the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Bender of this place, occurred the marriage of their daughter, Anna, to Mr. Thral kill, on Wednesday evening of last week. Supper was served to quite a number of invited guests. The young couple were the recipients of quit? a number of useful presents. They have onr best wishes for their future welfare. Berne Items. Gid Riesen has the grip. Fred Neacierhouser went to Grabill on business Monday. Samuel Kelley returned to Fort Wayne Monday, atfer spending a few days with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Saumel Kelly, of Blue Creek township. James Foreman has a slight attack of appendicitis and is confined to his bed. Dr. C. H. Schenck is attending to business of importance at Indianapolis this week. Protracted u eeting is now in progress at the Evai gelical church. ■William Miller has bought hie pirtner, George Brann, out, in the blacksmith business. F. M. Cottrell, Amos Hirsohy and Eli Riesen, were at Decatur Tuesday on legal business. The head of the Alpine oil company is no more. Too had that some of our citizens did not find him out sooner. The Knights of Pythias held their election on the third of January, and the following officers were elected: C- C-, N. H. McClain; V. C., T. A. Gottschalk; private, Earl K. Shalley ; . Installation took place last evening (Tuesday) with fair sized crowd. Linn Grove. Mrs. Ida MoCruy made a return trip to Bluffton on Tuesday. Chauncy Heller of Mt. Zion, spent a few days at the home of his mother last week. John Sawyer, of Seattle, Wash,, is making a prolonged visit among his kindred near this place. F. J. Shepherd is arranging to build a new barn, the structure will be 38x80 feet and will be equipped with improvements modern. Complete arrangements have been made to institute a Rebecca lodge at the Linn Grove hall of the I. O. O. F. on Friday evening, January 27. Walter Hunt, Albrecht Reber, Alonzo Runyon and Hoffman & Gottschlak have a force of help tor putting up ice. The crystal is eight inches in thicknes and of fair quality. The road supervisors of Hartford township were elected in their respective district last Saturday. First district, Fred Liddy; second, Courtney J Runyan; third, James Price. Janies Engle has the record for the delivery of [the largest porker ever received at the Berne market. The animal weighed 715 pounds. To Henry Morrow is due second claim on is due porker weighing 700 pounds. The Wabash Literary society after a lay-off of several weeks convened last Friday night, disposing of a very interesting program. The following was rendered: Music by the orchestra.
