The Supreme Comt has declared that it is fir the t< wnship trustees to determine subject to an appeal to the county superintendent what , sch o s 'hall be maintained in his township and which of the s hi<] houses shall be closed for lack of pupils, oonveyan ies being furnished to carry the children of the district to'another school. It is said that >in the administration of scho- •’. affairs many questions of expediency arise, in which the action of a school offio» is not subject to re- ■ I vision by the courts, provided only that he acts in z :«od faith. The controversy between the trustee of Newville township, in Dekalb county. and the patrons of a school ‘ which he had discintinned was dei cided in favor of the trustee. The trustee closed the school because the daily attendance had fallen to eleven pupils, and some of the chil- ! drew were voluntarily attending a two room school a mt’e and a half away. He refused to re-establish it on the petition of a majority of the voters in school district and the court says that there is no prog)visi n of jaw requiring a trustee tto re-open a school upjn petition ' after he has closed it.
