I election came in on Friday night ■ assuring the success of our townsman and candidate L. L. Baumgartner. his multitude of friends regardless of party affiliations ratified his nomination in a style. Modern head gear was not allowed and an ownerjof tobacco pipes were taken from the indulgers and a cigar thrust in its stead the migid candidate bore on the shoulders of stalward men and equipped with a box of fine cigars which he handed down from his improvised altitude. At a late hour and when the proposition was made to strip the little defenseless man and put on bis nighty then take him home and put him to bed. Levi took in ■ the situation at a glance knowing ■ how it would be to awaken in the morning when his garments were more than one block away. So he called his little feet to abnormal | action and being of light weight he succeded in leaving his pursuers far i to the rear THANKS HIS FRIENDS. The undersignd desires in this way to thank his many friends for their valiant services during the democratic primary election, just closed. My success was only possible by your united efforts and sacrifices in my behalf, and I shall always appreciate more than tongue can tell, and if elected shall endeavor to fulfill the dutiles of the . office to which I have been honored by a nomination, to the best of my *; ability. RESOLUTIONS. Resolutions expressing our sincere sorrow in the bereavement of our beloved president in the death of j her son Earl D. Fristoe. Whereas the Supreme Ruler of the Universe has sent his sad messenger among us and moved from our midst forever our dear young triend. Ea'l D. Fristoe. Be it Resolved. That we now have the sad opportunity to pay our last tribute of respect to ono who was always ready and willing to extend ’ a helping hand. Be it further Resolved, That we the Ladies Aid Society of the Presbyterian church extend to the family our sincere and heartful sympathy and commend to them to him who doeth all things well. Not now but in the coming years. It may be in the better land He'll read the meaning of our tears, Then, Ah, then we 11 understand. Resolved, That a copy of these resolutions be sent to the bereaved family and also be publisehd in our city papers. Mrs. C. Coverdale, Mrs. J. Schug, Mrs. Edith Dicer. I take this method of thanking my friends for their earnest support and courteous treatment during the Democratic Primary, assur- ' ing the voters of Adams county that no ill-will will mar our neighborly I friendship or cause me to think] any the less of any voter fur having I exercised their exclusive privilege I lof voting for the man of their choice, for this constitutional privi-] \ lege is too ennabling to our country to be scandalized by mo or any i other person who claims to be a loyal American citizen. So I will again thank you all for favors re- ] ceived. Assuring you that I will ever remain loyal to Democracy and true to my friends. D. D. COFFEE. Jasper I North, of White Oik, was a candidate for assessor of Hartford township at Friday’s primary election. Through some mistake in printing the ticket his name went on under the beading of trustee, and as a result bis vote suffered a shrinkage. Mr. North lis a good Hartford township citizen i j and we regret the mistake.

ADVICE TO BOYS. Dare to do right, no matter what the tempter offers you For the devil likes to flatter And he wants to get you too. But boys you tell the devil : While yon are laughing in hi' aCI That you are strictly on the leve And you want a better place, than I. Home and loving friends to teach you Bovs, my eves are filled with tears, From a soul that tries to reach me. Mother.
