Jerry Coffee and Die* Neptune, are buck from a thirty days trip I through the west. They visited. Denver. Pike's Peak. Salt Lake City. Yellowstone Park San Fran- | cisco, in fact every place of interest 1 through the west. They report a fine and the most interetsing trip they ever took. Major R. B. Allison. R K. Allison I and French Quinn left Frilay for Georgian Bay country on a ten ' days fishing trip. They have made the same tour several times and realize more than anyone else the pleasures and benefits to be derived therefrom. They went from here j t Toledo and make the two day trip from there to Little Current by ' steamer. The Georgian Bay country is said to be one of the greatest fishing places in all America. ’ J ' The biennial report of B. F. John-I son. state statistician, for the years ] 1901 and 1902. has just been com-' pleted by the state printer, and for the first time made public. The report is full of interesting figures I relating to the industries of Indiana, and tables comparing the business in various lines for the two years with former years are appended.. Agriculture, manufncturinsr. min- • ing and the stone industry are' the principal matters with which the report deals. The census, too. is treated. .The report from the various industries show that in every one there has been a great. increase during the la.-t two years. Rufus Stuckey of Berne is taking Chas. Voglewede’s place at the} shoe store this month. Charle.is off now on an extended trip ■ through the east. He will visit Brockton. Boston. Philadelphia. New i York City and other eastern cities, and will purchase before his return one of the largest and most complete lines of shoes ever displayed in this city. The modern ideas displayed in the management of the Voglewede shoe store have placed' it at the front of Decatur's retail houses. The store enjoys an enviable reputation for high grade footwear, and it is safe to say Charles will return with a new line in every respect up to date . A representative of the Democrat with Drs. D. D. Clark and J. M. Miller with C. C. Schafer as chauffieur enjoyed a drive to Ft. Wayne Friday evening in Chalmer’s new Cadillac automobile. It was de-' lightful. a dream, appreciated only by those who indulge in an auto tour. The crowd left at four o'clock and sped to the Summit city at a twenty mile an hour gait, as fast as many trains are run. Coming home we ran slower enjoying the beauties of a perfect night. There is no use talking, an auto is a model way to travel and we look forward longingly ot tie time «*■ *:<■**.' h and insist often on our company. The Cadillac is certainly a great touring car, comfortable and as speedy as is safe on ordinary roads and we predict that a number of them will be owned in Decatur 'ere i long.
