For sale by Holthduse Drug Co. j ■ Miss Ama Kooken entertained eleven of hey girl friends at her hnneon south Twelfth-street Thursday afternoon, from three to five. Games and music were indulged in, and refreshments of cake and ice cream were served. Driven to desperation. Living at an out of the way place, remote from civilization, a family is often driven tfl desperation in case of accident, resulting in burns, cuts wounds, ulcere, etc. Lay in a supply of Bucklen’s Arnica Salve. It's the best on earth. 25c at Blackburn & Christen’s drug store. j Motz Miller strayed away from home Thursday and for a time it was feared he was lost. A Democrat reporter investigated the matter and traced him to the home of his daughter, Mrs. Chas, Krebre four and a half miles from this city. That throbbing headache syould quickly leave you if you used Dr King’s New Life Pills. Thousands of sufferers have proved their matchless merit for sick headache. They make pure blood and build up your health | Onlv 25c, money back if not cured Sold by Blackburn A Christen, druggists. ' j C ’• Bollman of Chieu go was in the city, the guest of B. J. Terveer and family for a few days. Uy is an old Decatur boy who worked at the Burt house for several years. He has held some very responsible positions since Heaving here and is now dinning car conductor on a Lake Shore fast tram.
Was wasting away. The following letter from Robert R. Watts of Salem. Mo., is instructive: “I have been troubled with kidney disease for the' felt well and doctored with leading physicians and tried all remedies suggested without relief. Finally I tried Foley’s Kidney Cure and less than two bottles completely cured me and lam now sound and well.” Holt house Drug Co. j L. C. Perrine and wife were in the city Thursday enroute from New York to Que b ;c. They will be followed in a few days by a delegation of ■friends who will meet them at Quebec. Points of interest in the variand from observations here. Mr Perrine foretold a brilliant future for Decatur. “I have been troubled for some time with indigestion and sonr stomach,‘says Mrs. Sarah W, Curtis, of Lee, Mass., “and have been taking Chamberlain’s Stomach and Liver Tablets which have helped ma very much so that now I can eat many things that'before I could not.” If you have any trouble with your stom ach why not take these Tablets and get well? For sale by Holthouse Drug Co. i ’Dr. Leßrun acknowledges his guilt to a theft but says that it was •unintentional. A few of days ago the doctor went out to the home of Joe Dur bip to administer to a sick cow and during his stay at that place a chicken made a nest in his buggy. The chicken, of course was hauled to town and as it stands, Mr. Durbin loses and Leßrun gains., HOLTHOUSE DRUG CO. WILL BUY IT BACK. Henry Bosse, Sr., of Goshen, is here for a few days’ visit with his relatives and host of friends in this city. Mr. Bosse will be well remembered by Decatur people, having been employed-for a long time at the Yager furniture store. .-v Do you have sick headache with nausea arid vomiting, chilliness, yawning and general lassitude? That condition is caused bv a disordered liver, fake Dr. J. H. McLean's Liver and Kidney Balm and Dr. J. H. McLean's Liver and Kidney Fillets and a corm plete cure will result. For sale by Hoithouse Drug Co. j Miss Jessie McLain, a popular , clerk of the Boston store has the honor of donating the first book to the Commercial Club and her gift is certainly appreciated by the association. If other citizens would be as liberal the club could boast of a good library before long. CHAMBERLAIN'S COLIC AND DIARRHOEA REMEDY Is everywhere recognized as the one remedy that can always be depended upon and that is pleasant to take. It is especially valuable for summer diarrhoea in children and is undoubtedly the means of saving the lives of a great many children each year. For sale by Holthouse Drug Co. j Rev. Frank Lankenau and family of New Orleans, are expected to arrive in this city about the first of July for a two months visit with Mr. Lankenau’s parents Mr. and Mrs. Henry Lankenau. Rev. Lankenau has charge of a church at New Orleans and has been very successful in his work at that place. Ten vears in bed. R. A. Gray, J. P. Oakville, Ind., writes: “For ten vears I was confined to my bed with d sease of the kidneys. It was so severe that I could not move part of the time. I consulted the very best medical skill available but could get no relief until Foley's Kidney Cure was recommenned to me. It has been a Godsend to me.” Hoithouse Drug Co. j Daniel Sprang and wife and Mrs. Vail constitute a party the advance guard of the Decatur delegation, which left for Oden. Michigan, the summer returning some time in Thursday. They will remain during September. Oden is ever increasing in pipularty here as a summer resort, and Decatur will again be weir represented there. Interesting to asthma sufferers. Daniel Banta of Otterville, lowa. ' writes: “I have had asthma for three ' or four years and have tried about all the cough and asthma cures in the market and have received treatment from physicians in New York and other cities, but got very little benefit until I tried Foley’s Honey and Tar which gave me immediate relief and I will never be without it in my house. I sincerely recommend it to all.” Holthouse Drug Co. j C. O. France is at home from ’ Pi qua, where he has been playing ball for a few weeks. When he left here he expected to pajy the season out with Piqua, but upon his arrival found that he was wanted only, for two or three weeks as the management could not afford to pay him the wages he desired. As soon as .-2out of town returned he was asked to play for less money and decided to come home. Worst of all experience. Can anything be worse than to feel that every minute will be your last? Such was the experience of Mrs. S. H. Newson, Decatur, Ala. “For three years” she. writes, ‘‘l endured insufferable pain from indigestion, stomach and bowel trouble. Death seemed inevitable when doctors and all remedies failed. At length I was induced to try ElecI ukus. I imoroved at once and now I am completely recovered.” For liver, kidney, stomach and bowel troubles Electric Bitters is the only medicine. Only 50c. It ( s guaranteed by Blackburn & Christen, druggists. j Mr. and Mrs. James Haefling were given a lively farewell reception at the G. R. & I. railroad yesterday atfernoon, when they left on the their wedding tour. They were pelted with*rice, old shoes, and other articles necessary to make their married life happy, according to the old adage, appropriate hand bills were passed through the train and the couple otherwise made as comfortable as possible . Quite a crowd of friends participated in the affair. Startling evidence. Fresh testimony in great quantity is constantly coming in, declaring Dr. King’s New Discovery for consumption, coughs and colds to be unequalled. A recent expression from T. J. McFarland Bentorville, Va., serves as example. He writes: “I had bronchitis for three years and doctored all the time without being benefited. Then I began taking Dr. king’s New Discovery, and a few bottles wholly cured me.” Equally effective in curing all lung and throat troubles, consumption, pneumonia and grip. Guaranteed by Blackburn & Christen, druggists. Trial bottles free, regular sizes 50 j and §I.OO. j

Mr. ? and Mrs. Allison and Mrs. Macke will ) shortly leave for Ogden, Michigan, to t spend the summer at that famous resort. Brain-food nonsense. Another ridiculous food fad has been branded by the most competent authorities. They have dispelled the silly notion that one kind of food is needed for brain, another for muscles, and still J another for bones. A correct diet will I not only nourish a particular part of t the body, but will sustain every other ’ part. Yet, however, good your food may be. its nutriment is destroyed by ’ indigestion or dyspepsia. You must • prepare for their appearance or prevent their coming by taking regular ■ doses of Green’s August Flower, the favorite medicine of the healthy millions. An audience of over two hundred greeted the actors when the curtain lifted and working under the influences of an ent msiastic house the play was gone through without a break or interruption of any kind. The original cast with the exception of one, Miss May Coverdale, who was substituted by Miss Francis Merryman, was used and each player seemed to be at his best. The show was given under the auspices of the Berne Democratic club and the members of that organization are well pleased with the result of the undertaking. A row of incan- I descents from the depot to the car i steps, were lighted at the opportune moment to prevent any misstep on the part of the newly married cou- ( 1 pie. A retinue followed the bride and groom into rhe coach, each one i carrying a band box, telescope, hand bag or some sort of a grip. A f row of placards were stretched along • the car to inform any whom it at,-’ ~ n:.,n. A bird in a gilded, cage was presented them, and Don . will doubtless appreciate the joke if 1 the Erie charges him for excess baggage. On the way to the train they were escorted by a crowd of friends who sang, ‘’Don and Junie are married, it’s a fact you can't deny; they're going to live together, we hope, until they die.” > HIS LAST HOPE REALIZED. I From the Sentinel. Gebo. Mont 1 1 In the first opening of Oklahoma to ? settlers in 1888, the editor of this par per was among the many seekers after I fortune who made the big race one fine day in April. During ids travel--1 ing about and afterwards his camps ing upon his claim, he encountered t much bad water, which together with ? the severe heat, gave him a very severe diarrhoea which it seemed almost impossible to check, and along - in June the case became so bad he v expected to die. One day one of his v neighbors brought him a small bottle s of Chamberlain’s Colic, Cholera and - Diarrhoea Remedy as a last hope. A 1 big dose was given him while he was i. rolling about on the ground in great r agony, and in a few minutes the dose e was repeated. The good effect of the i medicine was soon noticed and with- ? in an hour the patient was taking his V first sound sleep for a fortnight. That - one little bottle worked a complete • cure, and he canribt help but feel ■ grateful. The season for bowel dis- . orders being at hand suggests this r item. For sale by Holthouse Drug Co. i

Mr. and Mrs. Smith are prominent young people and are well known in the south part of the county and in this city as well. They will return to Lafayette some time in August. VERY REMARKABLE CURE .OF DIRRHOEA. “About six years ago for the first time in my life I had a sudden ami severe attact oj diarrhoea ~ says Mrs Alice Miller, of Morgan, Texas. “I got temporary relief, but it came back again and again, and for six long years I have suffered more misery and agony than I can tell. It was worse than death. My husband spent hundreds of dollars physicans’ prescriptions and treatment without avail. Finaly we moved to Bosque county, ourqpresent home, andone day ] happened to see an advertisement of Chamberlain’s Cholic, Cholera and Diarrhoea Remedy with a testimonial of a man who had” been cured by it. The case was so similar to my own that I concluded to try the remedy. The result was wonderful. I could hardly realize that I was well again, or believe it could be so after having suffered so long, but that one bottle of medicine, costing but a few cents, cured me.” For sale by Holthouse Drug Co. j CLOVER LEAF EXCURSIONS.
