Alva Comer is making his hoe shine with a new coat of paint. G. W. Barnett is erecting a new kitchen in addition to his dwelling hours. Miss Mina Battling of Fort Wayne, is spending the week here with relatives. Joel Roe. the hay dealer, is building a new hay shed for his own convenience. Everybody cordially invited to come out and eenjoy the first social of the season. Rev. Scherick will occupy thop nlpit the Baptist church next Sunday morning. W. W. Smith, ex-trustee, is able to be out again after undergoing a seige of lagrippe. Mrs. Robert Peterson and children of Decatur, spent the past week here with her parents. The members of the M. E. church will give an egg social at the hall next Saturday evening, April 4. Elva Edington, the twelve year old daughter of James Edington, is afflicted with an abcess on the right hip. J. W. Hill is making some changes ad putting down a cistren at his residence -which is quite an improvement. W. F. Beery has resigned from teaching this -week and Charles Gage is filling his place at room No. 2. The school will close Friday. Mi-, and Mrs. Henry Steele of this place, quietly celebrated their golden wedding on Tuesday, March 31, it being just fifty years of their wedding anniversary. Linn Grove. William Shalley visited his family near Boundary City over the Sabbath. Frank O. Lindsey of Phoeenix, made a short call at the parental home over the Sabbath. „ Albert Shepherd and Uriah Ra of Bluffton, made an automobile trip to this place last Sabbath.

Thomas Edmunds of Braden, Kentucky, accompanied F. O. Lindsey to this place last Sabbath. Louis Neaderhouser, employed at West Manchester, Ohio, returned home for a few days last week. George Schlagenhauf has lx>en delivering the products of the Dunbar carriage works for several fiast. Lawrence and Harvey Opliger and James Kizer left the first of the week for Angola to attend the TriState normal college. William Caston, while endeavoring to start an obstreperous gas engine, had his left arm seriously bruised and had a close call of loosing the member. David Hilty, who had his right eye extricated wo weeks ago, was subjected to another operation Monday. A large cancerous tumor had formed in the socket of the eye which was removed. Drs Wilson and Mattox performed the operation. Our li treaty society closed their work for this season on last Friday night in which they, eclipsed all previous efforts. For some time past the audienec room was inadequate to accommodate the people for this occasion the Baptist church was used which was well filled. A special program was rendered. Among the prominent features was the resolutions that the Dred Scott case decision was of more importance in the abiolshment of slavery than Uncle Tiom’s Cabin. Sterling P. Huffman and L. L. Baumgartner were arraigned against Harvey Opliger and Daniel Baumgartner. The judges stood two to one in favor of the affirmative. Miss Ada Kizer was the star of the evening. Among her contributions -was a mimic sermon which won her prolonged applaus?. The Juvenile Boys’ band rendered newly acquired selections for the evening, receiving the high comments of more practical musicians. Resolutions were adopted by the members thanking the band for their assistance given in way of music and to the Baptist people for use of the house. A collection of over three dollars was made for the benefit of te band. Then closed a profitable term in literary work, such as would take a rival one vears to unravel.

Mr. Sale is an ardent machine republican and from that point of view it is entirely regular. He is also a man of affairs and will full fill his duties to the letter. Miss Agnes Mylott considers herself fortunate. She was standing near a stove at the shoe factory little suspecting that her dress was scorching and ready to break forth into a blaze.
