One of the first brick school houses built in Indiana is being torn down at Columbia City. The building was erected in 1836. It was a one story structure, 24 by 27 feet in size. Amos Messier, was arrested at Indianapolis last Sunday morning under thecharge of having embezzled S7,(XX) from his brother, a farmer at Marion. Rev. Messier was about to go to the church to preach the morning discourse, at Marion when he learned that his brother was in the city with his attorney. He boarded an interurban car for Indianapolis, but was arrested before leaving the car. He belonged to the seventh day Adventist church.
