In fact he has already stated the conditions upon which he will come and there seems to be no doubt that arrangements can be made Rev Allen was paster here several years and is well liked bv the congregation and our citiiens in general. Factory Inspector Willamson of this district was here several days last week, looking over our industries. He considers Decatur oue of the beet lit-' tie cities in Indiana, and did't hesitate | to say so. He also stated that the I ; only thing we msded was a Cornmer cial Club that would get a move on thetnsv'lve and secure a few more goixl faetorit's. The Decatur National Bankisbadly torn up this week the cause being the putting in of a burglar and fire proof Mosier vault. That it will be a great improvement and a positive guarantee I against accident can not be doubted by those who have taken a glance a‘ it and besides the company makes such an agreement when the sale is made. It is a massive affair weighing nearly 40,'XX’ or twenty toes. The walls are built of three half inch plates of tested steel so hard that they can scarcely lie dentevl with a drill, each of the plates are made of five thickness of steel each welded to the other and the thro' are fastened with steel screws making an inpena-1 treble wall an inch and a half in thickness. The door is a beautiful | piece of mechanism which defies burglars even of the dynamite class and must be seen to be appreciated. Within the vault will lx* placed a number of safety vaults which will be rented to those desiring them at $2.50 per year. They are five by six inches in dimensions extending about two | feet and each has a patent lock which , ,can only be opened with two keys, the renter having one and the bank the other, and both must be used at the same time, thus there can never, be a misunderstanding. The vault will be ready for use in a few days and will certainlv prove satisfactory. It is the only thing of the kind in a country bank in Indiana, is equal to any in Fort Wavne. and speaks vol-! uiues for the directors and officials of of the Decatur National. The grand jury concluded their est session on record in Adams county for some time. The jury consisted of Elmer Cook. H H. Meyers. Fred Ekioff. John F Wevil, James Watson and Albert D. Rilev. ami their report was as follows: We have been in session six days: we have examined a large number of witnesses, and re turn five indictments, one for felony and four far misdeamocs. We visited the txx r farm and county jail while in session. At the poor farm we find the inmates rovave gvxxi care and the beet cf attention. Rocwns. txxi clothing ami beds are kept clean and in the best condition. We speak words 'f praise over the workmanship of the infirmary building. The building is cue that the needs and time demands. The st,ck at the jxxw farm .s in good condition and Mr Grabers management meets our approval. At the county ;ai. we found everything in good cxxiditi.'n. the pr.scners are receiving the test of care arxt attention from a gxxd careful of&eial. Daniel N. Erw.n. At the jail there should be' <xne repairing done, and that should be done immediately. Ist. The sewerage system is defective and water is standing m the basement, wbk-h wT.'sow injure the walla 2nd. The water tank above the pr.sc ne.-s should be repaired, 'ni. The prison department sn ik be arrangexi that pris oners can le kepa apart. Our neighboring town of Berne is keyed up with enthusiasm by reason of taking a prospective view of a proposed elective rail wav. but they are ail at sea as to the inlet and out-1 let cf the road. Three routes through the town are proposed, neither cf them strikes them just right. We submit three more for consideration. Why not pass it over the tops of the buildings, or through a tunnel under main *treet. Swing it thro :gh the city by means cf a trapene. provided thev are unable to clear the city by a ran and a jemp.
