Therondwav must lie clear of all fences, trees, stumps, logs end all of whatever nature It may be. “ All stumps must be grubbed or blasted out either In the ditches or on the grade.
The right-of-way shall be forty (40> feet in width. i'he grade shall be of the doub'e track system and to be ot a uniform width of twentyeight iXH) feet from shoulder to shoulder, with a slope ot three <3l inches from center to eit her side. The side dralnsshtll be cut to a depth of not les* than eighteen (If) Inches below the crown of the grade. If at any time during the construction of the road or the grade on or before the final acceptance ot the same the grade should settle the contractor shall fill all depressions caused by the settling thereof and restore the same to the grade as shown ou ihe profile. All side draius to be made fully outside of the grade. All drains shall be constructed in a neat and workmanlike manner, with sufheient fall and outlet that they may carry all the water that may accumulate therein and remove the same from the right-of-way. The bottom of the drains to be unobstructed and continuous. KIND. ETC.
Crushed stone shall be placed upon the grade or road tied to a width of twelve (12) feet and to a depth ot ten (101 inches In ihe center and eight <Bl inches at the sides and in such a manner so that the stone will be placed on the east side of the grade ou that part, running n rth and *'>uth and on the mih sldeofthe grade on that part running east and west I leaving three (3) feet between the edge of the stone and the souto and eart hip line. ! »nd thirteen 113) feet on the north ami west side of the subgrade, the same to be used as ’ the earthen track. All materials shall be placed on the grade : m a neat and workmanlike manner. The contractor shall place the stone on the subgrade so that the coarser particles will be covered with a layer of screenings, two (2) ■ inches in depth. The stone shall be graded in and rolled bel fore final acceptance. All stone must be well crushed so that at least eighty (“C) percent, ot the coarser particles will pass through a two (2, High ring. When the stone is unloaded at the dump the contractor shall rake the coarser particles to the bottom. All stone must be so crushed that ali particles or products are the same as is produced by a Gatis’ gyratory crusher. Said stone to he of the blue limestone quality and to be subjected to the approval of the engineer and county commissioners. STONE. MASONRY. ETC. All bulk-heads of tiling, etc., are to be constructed of lime stene equal in quality to the products of the Buena Vista quarries, none of which shall be less than five (5 inches in thickness. Said stone to be laid up with good Bronson Portland cement, or Its equivalent, and sand mor'ar made in proportion, of one (lit art good cement to two ,S) parts clean, sharp sand. Each layer or course to he of regular thick ness and the work to be bound every other course and shall extend entirely across except at the points of junctions with the tile. The ends of the tile on either side are to be laid up in a stone wall of sufficient lengt h so as to extend eighteen (18) inches on cither side of the tile. Said beads at the ends of the tile to be two 2 feet thick and to commence below the freezing point on solid foundation and at least eighteen (18) Inches below the bottom of the tile, and to be built up as high as the road bed or grade and to be covered with a coping that is at least six (ffi Inches thick and to extend three (3> inches over the wall except on the side next to the grade Said coping to be one solid stone, and all ntssonry to be pointed up. TILING. SEWERS. ETC. The tiling as indicated in said exhibit “B” to be ot the size mentioned and to be ot sound first quality, sait^s-'' ted. vitrified st wer pipe, laid across the grade at right angles thereto and at such points as mentioned. Said tiling to be placed to the proper depth so as to convey the water on either side of the grade. All culverts to be thirty (30> feet in length. There shall be a ten (10) inch domestic or red tile placed on the west side of the road from station 133 te station lAk and an eight 18) inch tile acioss the road, said tile to be placed to the depth as will be given hereafter bv the superintending engineer. There shall also be an eight (8) inch tile at station 18k plus 25 teet commencing at the north side of said road and thence across the highway and tnenee south through th" farmland to a public drain which is about twentyeight (2to rod, south of the public highway. The above tiling to be of best quality and to be laid in io the grade hereafter to be established by the engineer, and is to be connected with wells as herelnatter mentioned.

The same being 21,840 feet, or 4.04 mile*. To the Honorable Board of County Commissioners of Adams County, ludlana: We the undersigned viewers and engineer appointed by your honorable board at the April special term, 1901, and In pursurauce to the within order of said appointment proceeded to lay out and assess damages of an Improvement as prayed for In said petition would most respectfully submit the following re port. I. gs and all other rubbish ot whatever nature It may be. All stumps must be blasted or grubbed out either iu the drains or on the grade. The right-of-way shall t>e forty (8)) teet in width. If at any time during the construction of the road or grade or before the final acceptance of the same the grade should setlie the contractor shall fill all depressions caused by the settling thereof and restore the same to the grade indicated on the profile. The side drains shall b« cut to a depth of not less than eighteen (ity Inches below the crown of the grade. All side drains to be made outside of the grade. All drains shill be constructed in a nca and workmanlike manner with suffi lent tail and outlet that they may carry all the water that may accumulate therein and remove the same from the right-of-way. Grade and line stakes set by the engineer and destroyed through the negligence of ihe contractor will be set again at the contractor’s expense. CRUSHED >TONE KIND. ETU. The crushed stone shall in* placed on the grade or roadbed to a width of twelve (12) feet and to a depth of ten (10 ( iocees in the center and eight (N) Inches at the sides, the coarser particies are to be placed on the grade and the same to be covered with a layer or covering of screenings to a depth us two (** inches. Said stone to be placed in such a manner so that the stone will be on the east side of the sub-grade ou that portion*running north and south and on the south side of the sub-grade on that portion running east and west, leav three feet of the grade bet ween the *t<me and the east and south hip of the sub-grade and tliirteen (I3i feet on the west and mirth side of the suit-grade, the same io be used as the traveled earthen track. All material* shall be placed on the grade in a neat and workmanlike manner. The stone shall be graded in and rolled before final acceptance. Ail stone must be well crushed so that at least eighty (60) per cent, of the coarser particles will pass thiough a two (2) inch rlua. When the stone is unloaded at the dump the contractor shall rake the extreme coars<r particles to the bottom. At such points where the double track crosses any bridge the two shall meet on either side of the bridge and form a graceful compound curve, each resuming tneir proper positions us heretofore mentioned. Intersections ‘ ' bridges shall Im* stoned to the full width or sixteen [l6] feet ulsothat the approaches to them shall be stoned to the full width thereof and to extend either way to a distance of fifty [Bo] feet, gradually sloping to meet the earthen track while the macadam track will remain as mentioned. AH stone must lie crushed so that all particles or products are the same as is usually producer by a Gates gyratory crusher. Said stone to be of the blue limestone qualit y and subject to the inspection and approval of the su|>eriiitending engineer and county commissioners. STONE MASONRY. ETi . AH bulk-headsof tiling etc. are to be constructed of limestone equal in quality to the products of the Buena Vista quarries, none of which shall be less than five [s] inches iu thickness. Said stone to be laid up with good Bronson Portland cement or its equivalent and sand mortar made iu proportions of one part good cement to tw’o parts of good, clean, sharp sand. Each layer or course to be of regular thickness and the work to be bound every other course and siia 11 extend entirely across except at the point of junction with the tile. The ends of the tile on either side are to l»e laid in a stone wall of sufficient length sous to extend eignteen [IK] inches from the tile on either side. Said heads at the ends of the tile arc to be two [2] feet thick and tocommence below the freezing point on solid foundation and at least eighteen [lßl inches below the bottom of the tile and to be built upas high as the roadbed or grade audio becovrred with a coping that is at least six [6] inches thl<-k and to extend three [3] Inches over the wail, except on the side next to the grade. Said coping to be one solid stone, and ail masonry to be pointed up. TILING. SEWERS. ETC. The tile indicated In said exhibit ”B” to Ire of the size mentioned and to be sound, first quality, salt-glazed, vitrified sewer pip<» laid across the grade at right-angles thereto and at such points as mentioned.
