In Noraway they have a law that forbids a saloon man selling more than six cents worth of liquor to any one customer at once. Morris of a strange occurrence in connection with the explosion of 1,000 quarts of nitroglycerine near Bluffton, Indiana. At Matthews, Indiana, thirty miles from the elplosion, Mr. Drew and others were engaged in a game of seven-up, and when the shock was felt the pack of cards were laying on the table. It connects the lake byway of the Chicago river at Lockport, twenty miles distant. The water thence flows into the Illinois and Mississippi. At present it is used as a drainage canal, and as such should certainly prove a wonderfi 1 aid in the sanitation of the western metropolis. Snider says that when bidding the young lady goodnight he attempted to kiss her. She resisted and there was a scuffle. He kissed her and in doing so ran his arm against a knitting needle which she held in her hand. It penetrated the arm four or five inches and in trying to pull it out three inches of it broke off in his arm. The X rays were used by a surgeon and the piece of needle removed.
