A serious looking runaway occurred in Union township Sunday evening of last week, which, however, resulted rather luckily. R. Heintz and family were driving along the highway when their horses became frightened and ran away. The entire party was thrown out and the buggy completely wrecked, but strange to say none of the family were injured in the least. Mr. Heintz no doubt considers that he got off easy.

A hold-up is said to have occurred on the G. R. &I. south bound passenger Tuesday afternoon. An old gentleman was relieved of a sum of money and his watch by a smooth looking young fellow, who immediately leaped from the moving train. About thirty delegates representing the various churches of the Brethren in Christ of this district, were present last Saturday, Sunday and Monday at the Beery church west of the city. Interesting services were held and the annual conference business regularly attended to. Darke county, Ohio, was decided upon as the meeting place for next year. Trustee Brown, of Kirkland township, took an inmate to the county infirmary Tuesday and while there was shown through that institution. He was very loud in his praise of the treatment accorded the unfortunate there and the manner in which they live. It is certainly true that Supt. Graber is taking eecellent care of all those confined to the charity of Adams county and is greatly admired by them.
