It is right at the edge of an Indian settlement and it is no particular episode to see a noble red man walking the streets on different days when he comes in from his ranch. She gave as a reason for her spinsterhood that “getting married is risky business” and she prefered to live a life single. The story is that years ago when the Indians roamed at will over the state, that a trader passing through the country fell in love with a beautiful Indian woman and as was the custom at that time, asked to buy her. The girl’s mother objected so the story goes, because she feared the “pale face.” But the girl loved the fair trader, and said to her aged mother, “Ma sell ufi.” And the village was named Marcellus.
