John S. Bowers and R. K. Allison returned home the latter part of last week from a several week’s tour of the south. Dave Rice and Frank France, two former Decatur boys, were with the Fort Wayne city orchestra, who furnished music for the dance Thurs day evening. What a pity this could not have been done for them before this beginning of their extermination. An exchange remarks that "some men never look real happy until after they utter a few big words in society.’ This practically amounts to the same as saying that some men are never so happy as when they make other people miserable and themselves ridiculous. A wester paper makes the following gentle observation: “There are thousands of men. who if they had devoted to sheep or poultry one-half the time and energy they have wasted, in pursuit of some thousand dollar office, would be in a position today where they would not take an office as a gift.” The time of year is again near at hand, when the township assessor will be around to ascertain the amount of your earthly possessions. The big Studababer sugar camp near Bluffton, is in full force now. There are 1500 trees and all have been tapped. Elizabeth Dunafin Crist, was born in Fairfield county, Ohio, on the 25th day of June 1840, and departed this life March 24, 1899, aged fifty-eight years, eight months and twenty-nine days. At the age of six years she moved with her parents to Adams county, Indiana. She was married to Elias Crist October 27, 1859, to this union was born six children, four sons and two daughters, one of which has proceeded her. For nearly forty years she has been a constant companion and helpmate to her bereaved husband. She leaves to mourn their loss a loving husband, three sons and two daughters, an aged sister and a host of friends. With Mrs. Crist has fallen a faithful wife, a patient mother and a highly esteemed friend and neighbor. Funeral services were conducted at the home by Rev. N. P.
