The Supreme Court of Ohio has declared constitutional the law providing that the county in which a lynching may occur shall become responsible in the sum of 55,000 to the next kin of the victim. Monday evening a petition was represented to the city council asking that an ordinance be adopted prohibiting expectoration on the sidewalks of the city. There is much prospect that the ordinance will | be adopted.

Fruit growers prophesy a good fruit year next season because the buds were well matured this fall. Some believe that more fruit is killed by early freezing of the buds in the fall than by frosts in the spring. It is thought that he will be able soon to resume his place on the bench. The damage by fire, smoko and water to the capitol building in Washington is not so great as at first supposed, and it is believed the repairs will not cost more than $20,900 and can be made before congress reassembles.
